First went through Criccieth on way to Penrhos in 1969. If memory serves me correctly there was still a Polish village in Penrhos then.

Yes. Polish village is still there just. The runway is now the caravan park. It was a secondary airport to RAF hells mouth.

@peterhunt2723 a Wellington bomber landed there and it was too big to take off!! They had to get a specialist pilot to take the risk to get it airborne. I love anything to do with planes. My grandfather was in the RAF in India. There's an interview with him on my KZbin channel about his time on the famous Windrush ship.

@@tonyjones9442 planes interest me too but not quite so much as railways. My first flight was 1958, Heathrow, Paris, Rome , Malta then on to Tripoli!

@peterhunt2723 I can beat that. I went to the Falklands on an RaF plane. TRIPOLI sounds interesting. I imagine it was still Italian then?
