General Hospital - 1983 Susan Moore Murder Storyline Pt 1

Part 1. Susan invites the entire Quartermaine clan to her cottage and when Alan asks her why she tells him to mention the name "Crane Tolliver". This gets Edward excited and Lila explains to Alan and Monica that Crane Tolliver was Lila's first husband. Meanwhile, Jimmy Lee Holt has received an invitation to Susan's too.

AJ is older than Jason. Alan had an affair with Susan which produced Jason. When Alan dumped Susan to go back to Monica, Susan sued Alan and the result was a $1 million trust fund for Jason and a measly amount for Susan herself. In some other clips I've uploaded, Monica won't allow Jason into the house. This changes later in the year when she bonds with Jason (much later in the year.)

Hey, today is the 30th anniversary of Susan's murder, which took place on February 11, 1983. I forgot to say below that the reason she went to see her banker the Friday before her murder, she found Crane Tolliver in her living room at the start of the show. He had a tendency to let himself in through her back door, which she never locked for some reason. And then she found out about Scott's forgery. Tolliver also warned her repeatedly not to double-cross him or she'd regret it.

[Continued] While Alan, Monica, and Edward were running around the hospital talking, some old man in a tweed coat was following them. His face was not seen, but he kept listening in on their conversations as they talked about Jimmy Lee and Susan. They didn't see him, but Amy did. She walked up and asked if she could help him but he just walked off. [Smart fellow!] Susan sobered up, but she was still angry about how her life had gone. One day when Alice was visiting her, a package arrived.

[Continued from below] Susan and Scotty celebrate her $1 million trust fund for Jason by sleeping together... once. It means nothing to Scotty but hooks Susan. Scotty and Heather both want Susan's money. Susan turns to booze and Heather plies her with it, to convince her she cares for her. Alice, Susan's aunt and Heather's mother, is horrified by Heather's stunt. After Susan gets sober, she bitch-slaps Heather one day. [Susan became my favorite character her last few months on the show.]

[Continued] The banker wanted to speak to Susan, so Scotty dialed the number. But he called Heather instead and per Scotty's instructions, Heather simply said "yes" to every question. They figured they got away with it. Now Scotty could direct Susan's money to his project and could appease Hand and Scotty's sleazy partners. And here in January, Jimmy Lee Holt showed up at the Q mansion. He told Edward he was Edward's son. Edward laughed in his face and accused him of being a con artist.

David Lewis was the original Edward from 1978-1993. There were brief periods in that stretch where he was ill and the part was recast for a few days...and of course, there was the time Edward was "lost" in the Bermuda Triangle and all you heard was Edward's ghost talking to Lila.

Lots of memorable characters. [Just looked through... meant to write Tiffany was with Noah's powerful UNCLE senator, Martin Drake.] Also, Anthony Hand has a new partner named Augie and he comes in and tells Hand "She got away!" the same night that this blonde girl shows up and sees Blackie Parrish and begs help.

Oh yes and the reason Susan knows about Jimmy Lee is because his being Edward's son and being rejected by Edward somehow makes the news. [Maybe Amy found out and called newspaper reporter Jackie Templeton, or something!] Also, Susan finds out about Scotty's getting beaten up and doesn't care and they watch about Luke's "death" on the TV. Scotty is stunned but Susan said he should be happy. She is really getting bitter at this point, just before Tolliver showed up at her door. Hope I helped!

[Continued] "The Quartermaines are illegitimate!" That gets her attention, so she invites him in. He tells her he married Lila Morgan before Edward did. But he went to jail for something. Lila's father pressured him to sign divorce papers because he knew Crane was no good. But Crane Tolliver wanted money. So Mr. Morgan had his name forged and the marriage annulled. But Crane kept the original unsigned divorce papers. For years he was in prison but did some homework since.

[Continued] Jimmy Lee left in a rage, but got injured on his motorcycle and was admitted to GH. Lesley became his doctor and they flirted with each other. Monica learned about Jimmy Lee's being Edward's son [don't ask me how!] and she talked to him and told Alan to go see his brother. Jimmy Lee had a birthmark on his arm that supposedly Edward, Alan, AND Alan, Jr. have. "The Quartermaine birth mark" -- well, it IS a soap! But it was official: Jimmy Lee was Edwards' son.

[Continued] Noah is moving to Atlanta to pursue a job offer and asks Bobbie to come with him. She does not want to, decides she wants to stay in Pt. Charles, wants to break up. Noah asks Tiffany on the rebound but she declines and says no. That night, Noah hears a knock at his apartment door. It's Amy and the nurses... there to give him the proper send-off. Luke's girlfriend Holly finds herself pregnant after his "death" becomes news. She is then classified as an unwanted citizen.

[Continued from below] Alan and Susan had lockets made on the cruise. Alan returns to Pt. Charles and finds out what Monica is up to with Scotty. He has a fight with Monica and then end up making love for the first time since her affair with Rick. Stella walks in on them in the morning and Alan is happy. Monica tells Scotty who says, "I didn't ask you to sleep with him!" Alan and Monica reconcile. Alan breaks it off with Susan. Scotty convinces Susan to sue Alan. She wins in court.

[Continued] Laura, Jackie, and Tiffany shared an apartment. Scotty and Heather decided to team up to get Susan's money instead of fighting. Scotty hired her as his new secretary and they became lovers. He convinced her to move in to Laura's old room, since Jackie was seeing Robert Scorpio, who was the new police commissioner and Tiffany was friends with Robert. That way, Scotty could keep up with things. Tiffany did not want Heather, but Jackie insisted, they needed the money.

Tolliver wanted to borrow $500 that day, that he needs help paying the rent. She is hesitant but he says don't worry, he'll pay her back after they get their money. So she takes out $500 and sees the banker with Alice, which is why Robert and Holly later on see the note Susan wrote, "Donation: CT" and Robert figures it's "Crane Tolliver". And in this one and subsequent videos, Susan is wearing this necklace. That was made out of this locket with her and Alan's pictures in heart-shaped things

[Continued from below] Scotty started seeing Laura Templeton, his secretary, because she reminded him of his first wife, Laura Spencer. One day while he was making out with her in the office, Susan came to the door, rip-snorting drunk. She slurred something at them and left... and crashed her vehicle into a wall! Rick and Mark Dante operated on her and had a mini-meltdown. Mark wanted her to live and Rick was concerned about paralysis. Susan lived and kept her strength.

[cont'd] And the day before Alan's gun gets stolen, Lila invites Scotty over to get him to do something about Susan. He wants to know details but she can't tell him. He is sent by Stella to get a pen while Lila tends to something and he sees Alan's gun. The other Q's warn Lila to stay away from Scotty. The show was emphasing Alan, Monica, Edward, Scotty, and Heather as murdering Susan. [Though I noticed Heather, the only one capable or murder, did not know of Alan's gun.]

[Continued] Susan returned home in January and used a cane for a while. She and Scotty did not sleep together but for some reason stayed married. Scotty had gotten her power of attorney but she snatched it back. Then he got beat up by hoodluns associated with the notorious Anthony Hand [who dated Susan once but she made him uncomfortable because she got drunk]. Hilarious, because Alan thought Susan hired him to do away with him, once Amy told him he was a mobster.

I'm not certain...but it was either a car accident or a back surgery that didn't go well or both that caused her to be in the wheelchair eventually. I guess we could read her biography and find out!

He walked in with Heather on his arm and told her he'd love to sleep with her, but Susan had hired a hitman to do away with him. "Oh, they're just friends!" "Oh, thank you!" Alan joined the other three Q's at the table, and Heather ran out, seeing she had been used. But now Scotty was desperate to get Susan's money. He forged her signature on a power of attorney paper. He met with Susan's banker.

[Continued] ... she arrives at the cottage with Alice and tells her that it's time for everyone who has used her to pay... "starting with my dear husband Scott Baldwin and my dear, sweet cousin, Heather Webber." Now Susan wants full revenge against everyone! [This is after Alan's gun is stolen, which IS here!] That Monday, she invites Scotty [who spends his nights with Heather] and Heather over and tells them she intends to make them pay, figuring out Heather was called that day.

Background to this story, for those who are interested: What was the end of the Alan/Susan affair was Alan sending Susan on a cruise, by herself, as per Edward's suggestion. But at the last moment, Alan joined her. Edward tells Lila hopefully the ship will be lost at sea. "Oh, Edward!" she said in her typical fashion. Scotty, a lawyer and businessman who wants to come up with a lot of cash to buy property, convinces Monica to sue Alan. Alan returns from the cruise where he and Susan...

[Continued] Robert proposes to Holly, so she can stay in Pt. Charles and take care of her baby, because those she was involved with will kill her once she's out of the country. So she agrees, only after Robert has the plane stopped and goes on-board. This happens the same time as this story here. Jackie does not take the news well and decks Robert. Luke is paralyzed and slowly recovers. deciding to keep his being alive a mystery, so Holly won't be burdened.

[This is what Susan is looking at just before her big murder scene.] "This is the last thing I need!" she yells at her aunt, throwing it at the wall. After Alice leaves, her doorbell rings. The old man in a tweed coat is there, but she thinks he is a salesman and she slams the door in his face. Later, he shows up again but before she can slam the door shut, he blurts out some interesting words.

Laura broke off with Scotty because he strung along her and "that poor woman", and she left Pt. Charles.

I wonder if she regrets leaving the show and asking the writers to kill her so that she couldn't be brought back. Her death still made for a great story and really showed what calibre of actor she is.

[Continued] In other news, Luke is presumed dead. Noah, who is seeing Tiffany, starts falling for his old flame Bobbie, who just returned to town, over Luke. He breaks it off with Tiffany but Tiffany gets even by arranging for Bobbie to have the wrong dress, two sizes too small, at a party and arranges for a waiter to spill wine on Bobbie, while Tiffany walks in looking stunning in her own dress, draped on the arm of Noah's powerful senator Martin Drake. Bobbie leaves enraged.

No, Tristan actually shows up in the Ice Princess storyline which introduces Robert to, not only the audience, but Tiffany, Luke and Laura. We find out he's a WSB agent partnered with O'Riley who was played by the actress who was Witchiepoo in HR Puffnstuff. It's in the Ice Princess storyline that the Cassidines are introduced as well.
