Excellent video! I do have a question about which hyper gamma to use for broadcast. Earlier in the video you indicated HG 1 and HG 2 were suitable for broadcast because the white was set at 100% and would match the dynamic range for most TVs. Later in the video you said that you like to use HG 3 and HG 4 and you changed the white clip level to 109%. Does this mean you are ok to use HG3 and Hg4 for broadcast as long as you change the white to 100%? Would this not mean the white would be blown out by the time it was being watched on TV? Or does it mean that for broadcast you should stick to HG1 and HG2? Thanks!

Do you know how i can make the picture more sharp? It feels like the picture could be a little bit more sharp in custom mode (std5 with rec709) setting. Is there a way to do it manualy? because there is no obvious point like "sharpeness" in the settings. Would be awesome if you have any recommendations. Cheers

Would I be correct in thinking that it's not possible to select your bit rate when recording in the XACI codec? There is no two digit number listed next to the shooting format as there is in MPEG 422 codec

I have a question about clip naming...let's say in doing auto naming and the card # good up as you change cards..001 002 003 and so on. does that counter automatically default back to 001 on a different day or do I need to manually reset it for each different shoot day?

Is there a way to boost the audio gain more than the 10db dial and the audio input to 99? When I plug my handheld sennheiser md46 mic in through XLR the levels are still too low.

Hello everybody. I have two PXW-FS7, both of them has the same settings. I am using 64 GB XQD cards, but one camera gives me 35 min and the other one 38 min on the card. What can be the possible cause of this situation?

good video, for menu set up, but how does this camera get from the box to as you have it(with a lens on & on a tripod)???- which is what the video title alludes to.

If you don't know how to put a lens on a camera and a camera on a tripod, you should not be using this camera to learn. Just saying, I don't think those steps are going to leave anyone using this camera in the dark.

So I just got two Sony FS5 for a bargain and I'm putting the images side to side with my Sony a7s II images and I feel like I am doing something extremely wrong because the image of the Sony FS5 looks so much better them the A7s II?... Also, when I use my Atomos ninja V, which has my A7s II Luts and hookup the FS5 with A7s luts on, the luts are extremely dull as if I can still crank the colors and contrast way beyond the levels of the A7S image. What am I seeing here, FS5 is actually putting out more color and dynamic range than the A7s?... Help me understand anyone.

At frame 10.48 of you tutorial you mention bit rate. My camera doesn't show the same thing. Is what is showing as far as the last 2 digits the same and are they actually bit rates?

Donnie Bennett they did away with that on the new camera, if you have one, or ran updates. So you won't see bit rate like in the video

I am having a very big problem with sync , I shot my feature film for film festival , I live in PAL area and shot scenes in 25 fps in Sony FS7 ultra HD , and sound on external recorder recorded at 24 fps how I can sync with audio because there is no 24 fps in camera in PAL , Looking for your reply

bablu yadav you need a dual adaptor the mounts to the top front 15 (Multi-interface Shoe)

Search for "XLR-K2M" or "XLR-K1M" They connect to the front hot shoe, and give you XLR inputs, volume control, +48v phantom power, and more, going into camera channels 3 and 4.

Hello Alister! I am big fan of you helpful videos, but I should mention something. I cant believe that someone with such experience like you and your huge technical knoledge, can make such a obvious mistakes, like the sound from the intro was so loud and your voice after that with normal level.Also you shoud stop usind dip to white once and for all. Yes, to me it also apear nice a few years back, but now I found it so distracting and eye fatigue. It literally hurt my eyes. There is nothing wrong with the simple CUT.Now I have a rule. I will never use dip to white more than once in any video
