I watch this again every time I'm asked to shoot a Hypergamma to remind my self of the settings, etc. THANK YOU!!!! for providing so much information so concisely, in a very easy to understand format!

I've always shot Slog3 Gamma and Matrix to none on Custom mode. How does this compare?

Excellent video! I do have a question about which hyper gamma to use for broadcast. Earlier in the video you indicated HG 1 and HG 2 were suitable for broadcast because the white was set at 100% and would match the dynamic range for most TVs. Later in the video you said that you like to use HG 3 and HG 4 and you changed the white clip level to 109%. Does this mean you are ok to use HG3 and Hg4 for broadcast as long as you change the white to 100%? Would this not mean the white would be blown out by the time it was being watched on TV? Or does it mean that for broadcast you should stick to HG1 and HG2? Thanks!

Hi Alister, the fact you can change the white clip of these hypergammas: does this mean (for broadcast shooting) you could use a hyper gamma with a 9 in it and reduce the white clip to 100% to remain broadcast safe? Will this affect other parts of the curve? Many thanks - Mark

Yes you could but it would decrease the dynamic range and give you hard clipped highlights instead of a nice highlight roll-off.

PXW_FS7 this camera ONLY shoots Magenta or PINK Blue Colors i cant get arround it all the forums and even your videos dosent make it clear how to make these adjustments to use the grey card I mean you show a grey card but dont show how to get to these ajustments in the menu and how to change these settings you just say to do it while sitting in front of a grey card ..showing the differents in the menu you just say to make the changes and they are not available in all of these different menus.. can someone say how to set the camera to use this grey card and how to get to where it is being demonstrated in this video where theres these grey cards but not how to set the camera up and how to get to and use these settings to get rid of this PINK CAST i just bought this camera and now want to return it ...this color is terrible and very ugly ! 10,000 dollars of PINK magenta!

+Dana Jenkins Hi Dana, if you post a still of the issue you're having in the FS7 category on the DVX User forum, I'm sure someone could give you advice. I don't own this camera, but it could be a white balance issue (wrong Kelvin temperature for what you are shooting). If not, you may have a defective product, but I would ask the other FS7 owners here: www.dvxuser.com/V6/forumdisplay.php?219-PMW-Cameras-(-amp-temp-FS7-FS5) ~Adam

+Dana Jenkins Also, are you using firmware 2.0? If you look at the firmware release notes in Juan's post at the top of this page you'll see there's something about removing a magenta cast: community.sony.com/t5/FS7/Upcoming-FS7-firmware-2-0-release-information/m-p/491169#U491169 And here's the main page with download links too. community.sony.com/t5/FS7/bd-p/FS7 Keep in mind, updating the firmware is a potentially risky process, so if you decide to do so, please follow Sony's instructions very carefully or damage could result.

+Dana Jenkins And feel free to post your question in the community.sony forum too (the last link I gave) as you may get quicker results that way.
