You did a fine job of explaining these issues, am I right in thinking students are rudely nevertheless talking all the way through? It makes it hard to hear you - they are just dreadful! I do hope you're now at an institution with more engaged less self-absorbed students who are there to learn rather than to laugh and chat!

Great lectures, Andre. Thanks for sharing this. View suggestions on recording: Maybe position the camera higher up and with no objects between board/presentation and camera. Use pointed microphone to eliminate background noise (although, this requires repeating what the audience is asking, noting.). Make use of manual focus, so camera does not autoadjust.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately this is the best I can get in this lecture theatre. Can't position the camera higher, and also can't put down the monitor which is in the way any further. Microphone is a professional wireless lapel microphone. Using any other (external or camcorder internal) microphone results in even more noise. Not sure the camcorder has manual AF, but I might increase the lights to help the AF.

Rude students.

Are these students talking among themselves the whole way through? It certainly sounds like it, if so it's extremely disrespectful, and they are an embarrassment to themselves. If you're going to chat while the lecturer is talking why bother showing up at all?
