Bonjour madam , finding it difficult in reflexive verbs after being in France for 3 years ... but keep watching ur videos .. Plz explain.. 1.how to say « I am waking my sister in the morning. 2.mother was bathing her son 3.I told the guests to be seated comfortably Please explain like this complicated reflexive verbs in Present , past n future and also in Negation ...
@ButacuPpucatuB5 жыл бұрын
BHUSHAN KUMAR Salut! J’ai lu ton post. Voici mes notes et réponses.... 1. « I am walking my sister in the morning. « Il y a deux sujets, toi et ta sœur. You cannot use a reflexive verb here. Your sentence seems to refer to the future, alors... « Je marche avec ma soeur demain matin. » 2. Mother was bathing her son. Two different subjects. So once again, a reflexive verb does not apply here. Votre phrase en française - « La mère lavait son fils. » 3. I told the guests to be seated comfortably. You and your guests are two different subjects. But you want your guests to sit themselves down. This is where the reflexive verb will be used - upon the guests only. . Also, when you invite a person to sit down, it’s implied that you want them to be comfortable. Votre phrase, « J’ai dit aux invités de s’asseoir. »

BHUSHAN KUMAR Okay, did you try applying the reflexive rules though? Can you wake yourself up and use a reflexive verb? Yes! Can you use a reflexive verb to say you woke up your sister? No. Can you tell us why?
@BHUSHANKUMAR-bb3iu5 жыл бұрын
@BUTACUP : thanks : My simple question is - how to say the following... 1. I wake up my brother every morning at 6 am . 2.mother was bathing her baby . 2.To explain in the restaurant about BUFFET TO GUEST : vous vous servez directement- is it correct- or how to explain ... --/ the above mentioned examples do we have to use reflexive verb or not - how to translate in French... Thanks in advance for replying me ...

Excellent lesson! You explained this SO well. I understand the concept of reflexive verbs. Washing one's self, etc makes sense. But, there are some verbs that I can't figure out WHY they're reflexive. Take "se souvenir" for example. "I remember that movie" becomes "Je me souviens de ce film". Why is that? In this example, I'm not "remembering myself", but I'm remembering something which has nothing to do with myself...a movie. If you have an explanation for this, I'd sure take it!

All reflexive verbs uses être as their auxiliary verb no questions. For example Il s'est réveillé à 8h. (He woke up at 8h) Il a réveille sa fille/il l'a réveillée (he woke his daughter up / he woke her up)

Thank you so much for the video but can someone please explain me the logic behind writing these phrases "Je te propose" (I propose you) or "Je t'invite"(I invite you) and "Tu me manques tellement" (I miss you so much). Can't they be written in any other way. It appears quite confusing to me. I have my exam coming up in like 3 days. I would really appreciate and be thankful to you if you could kindly help me understand this concept. Merci beaucoup!

Sometimes,why a reflexive pronoun is used on a wrong pronoun to reduce writing or speaking like je t'adore,je t'appelle....these are some examples that's I've heard or atleast seen somewhere.so is this completely wrong or is it just a wrong but lazy way of speaking French?

How do you know when to make a pronomial verb in passé composé, infinitive, present or imparfait. That is killing me. It's like when I go to answer online for my French class it's just marking me wrong on just about every single problem no matter what way I answer just to piss me off.
@JV-kk9ku4 жыл бұрын
It depends of the context of the sentence. If you say "Je suis allé à la boulangerie." : I went to the bakery. This action is isolated, and it is over. "J'allais à la boulangerie lorsque j'ai rencontré tes parents par hasard" : I was going to the bakery when I met by chance your parents. In that case you were going to the bakery AND you met the parents of the other person, two actions in one sentence. You will use imparfait to describe the main action, the secondary will be passé composé. Some verbs have to be used with a pronoun to describe the fact that two persons are doing something for each other and to know if you have to use "être" or "avoir" it is a little difficult but to sum it up I'd say that if you make an action that concerns yourself you will use "être" : Je suis venu : I came - Tu es parti : You left But if you apply an action to somebody, you will use "avoir" : J'ai demandé à ma mère : I asked to my mother ... Obviously, "être" and "avoir" will be conjugated following the tense of your sentence.

The confusion for me is that these verbs are called "reflexive verbs" rather than classifying this as a "reflexive state for verbs". ANY verb can be made to be reflexive (although it may not make a lot of sense such as "manger") and so to make it seem as though it is a special category of verbs made it confusing for me. I rather think of it as a separate state for verbs.
