Random theory: maybe the pyramids were built as tombs due to the flooding of the region. Their pyramidial shapes would allow them to act as an artificial hill in a place where the waters rose often over the banks of the river. This video shows that it is a plausible explanation, as the pyramids largely just erroded and didn’t outright get destroyed. This at least explains why none of the other Egyptian buildings from that era survived. Anyway, Spoiler Alert!!! I found Hammy. He’s on the right side of the tower in the background at 0:17.
