Hopefully they'll be biting. Not your normal spring at the lake. Only about 25% of the normal amount of fish around the Sutcliffe area so kind of tough fishing. There are some very big ones around however so hopefully you will hook into a couple of them. Good luck!

Hey Py, do you recommend a shooting head fly line? Or will I be fine with an 8wt rod with floating line and weighted streamer or balanced leech patter?
@pythomp83902 жыл бұрын
I use a 250 grain 30' head. On most beaches your only casting into 6' deep water so a floating line with a long leader or an intermediate line will work. Midging is very effective this time of yr cause fish are in spawn mode and have pretty much stopped eating. A midge hanging in front of them is an easy bite, no energy spent chasing it.

Did you use the black woolly bugger or Doug Ouellette’s Original Popcorn Beetle?
@pythomp83902 жыл бұрын
Both, but mostly a black woolly bugger.
@BroskiArmy232 жыл бұрын
hello awesome video, what bait or lure were used to catch the fish?
@pythomp83902 жыл бұрын
Woolly buggers and beetles. If your spin fishing jigs work great but the spoon is making a comeback.

You fish the same beach throughout the season?
@pythomp83902 жыл бұрын
No, fish several beaches from the south end to the north end of the lake. Big fish are everywhere. Most of the time I fish beaches with the least amount of people. Definitely increases your odds of catching big fish if you are the only one on the beach!

@@pythomp8390 peli is one of them I see What are those other ones you fish at? Is there anyway to contact you for tips to fish out there🙏
@pythomp83902 жыл бұрын
I fish pretty much all the beaches north of Indian head. South of that the water gets to deep for stripping flies. I generally like water that is shallower then 12'. If you haven't fished out there much then I would recommend fishing beaches where guys are fishing to get a feel of what to look for and how to do it. Then explore from there. Stripping a bugger and a beetle catches a lot of big fish out there.

@@pythomp8390 I’m more into stripping,I just started fishing it Last season,i do fine fishing wherever I end up at But I’m not confident enough on choosing spots to be successful

I can't tell you the beaches I fish in the fall because I know too many guys that would get mad and hunt me down if I disclosed the names of those beaches. ( some humor but some seriousness!) I will tell you that starting in January you want to hit the beaches around Sutcliff. Many of the big fish have schooled up and heading for that area. Washout beach to hidden beach north of Shot dog is where you want to be.
