Hi Tony, I think that road closure was definitely intervention from the biking Gods, the best bits can often be the unplanned bits. Enjoying the series, Dan 👍

Loving this new trip. Like you I'm not good on mountain roads with a steep drop - unfortunately I found this out when riding some mountain passes in Switzerland, some of which had roads "hanging" off the rock with a drop on both sides!! The landscape was stunning, but if I go again I shall ride around the lakes!! Keep up the great work, and ride safe!

Hi, Great records of your trip to the Pyrenees. Not sure when you travelled but May/June is often road works time preparing for summer season and 'le tour'. Great choice in Cauterets, hope you went up to the Pont d'Espania? Cheers Paul

Thanks so much. It was end of May and you’re right - there were plenty of road works going on - but such a great time to see the area because the traffic was so light 😃

Ah the old 'Route Barre' ! Usually little help with diversion signs too lol. I've found in the past they will let you through on a bike if they can and I've been encouraged by the workmen to do so in the past. I suspect there was a 'big cheese' guy there on site hence your 'NON!' I always go over the tops rather than tunnels, my wife used to hate the edge views but now loves them and happily films stuff as we ride. Great honest videos! I'll subscribe :)

Love it 😎 never, ever worry about taking things at your own pace, even in a group. We all have to ride in a way that we’re comfortable. And don’t pay any attention to anyone telling you otherwise. I’ll often change route when I see a direction that looks interesting. Enjoy 🙌

We were disappointed to hit a roadblock near Laruns. It completely upset plans as it meant we couldn't do the col we had planned and added miles to our journey. Despite the weather, we thought the Pyrenees were beautiful and will return. Nice job with the vids 👌

Thanks so much. Yes - they seem to put up Road blocks with no advance notice earlier in the road - which can be a tad annoying 😕

Wow, I need to get to the Pyrenees! I've not really toured in Europe at all but there are so many places I want to see now thanks to KZbin and channels like yours. What time of year did you take that trip? I am totally with you about having to have everything booked in advance, but watching this I am thinking I really need to try to be more spontaneous and find accomodation on the go.

I traveled last week of May and into early June. On reflection I probably should have traveled from 1st of June onwards then everything would have been open 😊

Enjoyed your video. Im just back from France & Spanish Pyrenees. Hit a few road blocks around villages in France, it was village fetes across the country. Wild goose chases trying to negotiate the diversion signs, then trying to bit part plan how to get around the blocks and back on track. Also my experience is that there is still some semblence of the French lofty unhelpful stereotype being true and in existence, your issue being typically one of them. Wont bore you with the details of some of the behaviours LOL

Enjoying your latest trip. I don't ride on my own but I'm not against it, although there are many advantages of group riding. I just like sharing the experiences with others, especially when you find great roads, hotels and food. I love the Pyrenees, you can't find a bad road. Looking forward to the next episode. Thanks for posting.

@@laterrider I have two groups to ride with on Euro trips. The first group is very much mixed experienced and ability so we go as fast as the slowest rider. People are encouraged to ride their own ride and stay within their comfort zone. The second are more experienced so we up the pace a bit. Maybe see what ride outs your local BMW dealer organises? They are normally pretty steady.

Hi Tony i have just watched your first 3 videos on your trip into the Pyrénées. They are very good and i have subscribed to get the rest. I also follow MotoJitsu, very clear and honest instructions from him. I love your honesty by letting your viewers know about your fears and limitations, many bikers think they are the bees knees. 😅 I dont think you should try and follow other riders in the twisties just yet, get more confidence on your own. I also have a channel on KZbin called Crosstourertony, if you want to see some of my trips, especially our trip to the North Cape, Norways beauty will blow your mind. Keep these videos coming, cant wait for the next. PS i live near saint tropez so if you plan next years trip here i will show you some areas near here. Ride safe and ride your dream Crosstourertony 👍✌️

Beautiful views and what roads! Envious as I’m not sure my wife would give me that long a pass 😂 Distinct lack of pot holes I see!? I did think that forced detour would open different horizons for you… and it managed to relax you after getting you wound up a little 😂 the Road workers were probably something to do with the local indirect/secret tourist board left over from the French resistance 😂. I would ride just how you are, and take time to take in the views… they say it’s good to get out of your comfort zone but I don’t think that applies to biking, particularly at our age 😀. Look forward to seeing the rest of your journey! and I feel could I sense a future video in the making of “Britain’s best car parks” 😂 take care and be safe!!

In the Pyrenees one year, to the west of Laruns in Spain - we hit a road block, and had to take a big detour where I was light on fuel. on our detour - my mate said "If we had hung around until 4pm - they would all have gone home - and we could get through" BUT - then fuel might not have been easy. Col D'Aubisque is great, but if you go East-West, the drop off the road side is a bit unnerving. You didn't stop at the cafe on the promontory above the ski centre - views are fantastic and you sometimes see the vultures.

Okay -now watched the whole vid. SUrprised you didn't opt for Col Daubisque for your route, albeit it is tighter roads than south over Pourtalet and around in Spain. Love the entire area and will be back there end of August.

Great stuff! The scenery is amazing and those roads are soooo quiet... what time of year did you go? I had a similar experience around 5 years ago in Switzerland. A road closure, about 30km from my destination, forced me to find an alternate route. It added a good 3 hours on to my journey but I ended up riding two utterly breath-taking passes that I wouldn't otherwise have ridden... serendipitous! I'm really enjoying your content 👍

So you tried cash. That was the nail in your coffin. Foreigners are not all just little minions in the British Empire. French people are very proud and would be insulted with the offer of money, they are not materialistic as the Brits and Yanks are. Yes I do know as you are riding in my area there.
