Pyros s02e01 HD - The Big Show

The GFA pyros mount their biggest Canada Day show ever in front of tens of thousands on Parliament Hill, but a rookie mistake puts the show and GFA's reputation in jeopardy.
Later, the team helps launch giant, home-made bombs in a field in Italy at the prestigious San Trifone festival in Bari, Italy where rival families fire the biggest, loudest and most dangerous homemade fireworks shells GFA has ever handled.

The thing is, those huge multi-break shells are fired from steel guns. If a bottom shot (final report) goes in the gun it throws steel shrapnel. If someone gets killed it will reflect negatively on the whole industry, not just the company that built the shell.

@@TittiMiche Haha...7 year old comment. At our pyro club (MPAG) we've used extra heavy walled through bolted HDPE guns to fire mutis with success. PGI has as well, though IIRC they found they get soft and fail if you don't allow them time to cool down between shells. Paul Molder (Pyro Holiday Thailand) has had success with re-inforced fiberglass. Basically taking a 'glass gun and building it up to double or more the wall thickness. I'm not as steel phobic as I was when I wrote this comment and have fired some shells out of our steel guns, but I make damn sure I build them right.

Fun Fact, you CAN in fact move shells to other racks without taking the squibs out and making more work for yourself. I seriously can't figure this company out. Most of the mistakes they make are easily fixed but they do it with 5 times the amount of unnecessary work.

Yeah, i get that they have to make it dramatic so people will watch, but the reality is, Firework Shells aren't as delicate as they make them out to be. You can literally slam them on the ground and nothing will happen. Even with the fuses squibbed they're hardly anymore volatile, as long as kept away from a heat source, or any type of current, obviously. I wasn't trying to come off as a jerk, but like I said, when you do this job for a living, it's like you're watching a bad movie and you're calling them out on everything they do wrong, you know?

+Jex2112 of course there are nighttime shows with coloured effects in Italy - but these daylight fireworks are about rhythm and sound, a sensory experience. Its essential that you see the shells go up, feel the bombs leaving the mortar, the enormus clouds of smoke, tons of paper raining down, special effects like colour smoke shells, parachutes, flags, puppets... (you wouldnt see anything of that at night!) - shooting a daytime show at night makes no sense - you miss all the typical characteristics of a daylight show! Check out some of my videos...! :)

The daylight firework is a festival where you have to valutate the technic to make the multiple shell bombs (cilindrical bombs). There are some makers able to make one bomb who lasts more than 10 seconds in the sky. The night firework is completely different. You have to valutate both technic, colors, and the combination of the multiple shell bombs. I have been in japan for a firework festival in the 2008, yes the shells are so big and wonderful, but you see a single bomb bursting in the sky. The italian multiple broke bombs are an unic thing. Unfortunately michele bruscella and its factory doesn't exists anymore. Michele with nine other workers are died in an incident. The factory blew up on 24 july 2015. Only Antonio was saved and he is continuing the tradition of his family. GOD bless the died workers in that date and all the died firework makers.

25:13 You don't ever drop shells into a mortar like that! An impact to the bottom of the shell can make the paper on the bottom split and spill out the black powder that makes up the lift charge, which means higher chances that a huge shell like that will "flower pot" or basically not lift hardly at all and burst in the tube or have a low break. The friction from the composition shifting in the shell could also cause it to go off without any outside source of ignition! Know before you play pro!
