I've been listening to his lectures for years, truly enlightening in every single one of them. Much respect and admiration from El Salvador.

Much more interesting to hear about great men than all the rubbish of today about self important MeGainy women. The professor is as charismatic as he is knowledgeable.

Plutarch and his biographies are not exactly history they are written as if they were adventure stories, history on the other hand is not driven by personalities like "great men" or "great women" but by ideologies mass movements and systems, this narrative of great men is used by ancient and medieval early morden historians to promote the ideas of monarchy and to justify the power of the elite and noble classes which all of the ancient historians were part of.The professor as well as Plutarch provide you with a story, that is in fact the aim of Plutarch not to teach you history but virtue by the life of men who he thinks were virtuous,not in the Christian meaning

U are old soon because u have albanian population illyrian alphabet, illyrian history and one language created artificially by the church with illyrian alphabet, And now u are an albanian that speak Greek This is how they teach u to do And u believe in what they told u to believe This is what the write in the books, to make u believe in stupid things because if they tell u that u are Albanian Greece will not exist, this is the reason they want you to think u are an ancient greek and pretending to be real old greek😁 But the old greek it mean albanian soon because Greece was never existed, Instead albanian was under Ottoman occupation untill 1912 it doesn't mean is created in that year, albanian as population is there old since the good created the world, And we speak in his language We are speaking the good language, But go back in history and find if u can where the greeks are? Or if they ever existed? Even at the times was called Greece it was a country with a albanian population and Albanian spoken language

Don't believe history has lost its love affair with the biographies of great men and women. It never will. How important are the great personalities compared to economic forces and ideological movements? Still very important, don't let the Marxist's reply above fool you. History is still shot through with biographical and characterological explanations.

Pyrrhus was an ENFP, and the "P" was his downfall.

It's a code for personality, and the P is equivalent to low conscientiousness in big five descriptions of personality. Pyrrhus had issues planning well and following through. Anyway there it is, I think Plutarch says something similar.

yup! Pyrrhus had no idea that the army he faced was a disciplined, well organized force, one indeed who's organization was more highly developed than his own army.

I think it’s amazing that when Hannibal Barca met Scipio Africanus and Scipio askedHannibal who are the greatest commanders he replied.. ( which I know isn’t too far away from Pyrrhus time)Alexander the Great,Pyrrhus, and himself and that if he could have beaten Scipio he would have said himself above all of them …. Kinda just shows how is name echoes through history and that some of the best ever considered him one of the best-well at tactics he wasn’t the greatest strategist..He did try to declare war on damn near everyone

@@darthcarnage6734 Yea makes you wonder why they held Pyrrhus in such high regards. He was noted to be the best soldier of his age. There must be more to Pyrrhus's life that is unknown to us for him to deserve such a reputation.

I don't know why hannibal had pyrrhus so high on his list. He seems like a terrible tactician and made bonehead moves after bonehead moves

Pyrrhus was renowned for his prowess and bravery and that made his men loyal. It's a rare and irreplaceable quality in a general. If only Pyrrhus had an Alexander to keep him in task, he would have made a better deputy than Mark Antony.

Greece is only 200 year old country created by the grate forces Country created with Albanian people, give them new language and new country name. they give artificial language by the church using illyrian alphabet and call them greek, And the Albanian they wanted to take it out of map not to exist as country but this never happened, greek language has been existed only in government Offices used to be spoken, but the people always talked albanian they still speak Albanian in their homes and never forgot the Albanian language Even now days they do speak Albania and greek
@iandespalo29493 жыл бұрын
your views are justified, but so is the official history and this lesson. Albania at this time was part of the Hellenistic world and so it is grouped together with Greek history and culture in general.

@Leo Gambino Here's some information about the Byzantine (Medieval) greeks and their accomplishments en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine_Greeks Greeks always were and always will be the protectors of Europe. Also Pyrrhus was Greek not Illyrian, and Constantine was half Greek and half illyrian. Maybe some of the heroes you consider "albanians" aren't actually albanians. And don't get me wrong, i totally respect Albanian history, culture and people. Personally I consider albanians as my Pelasgian Brothers HOWEVER I won't allow ANYONE steal MY Hellenic heritage. 🇬🇷🏛️

Greece was created as a state 200 years ago, when Albanian exists from 1912. You were liberated by Greek, Serbian, Montenegrin, Bulgarian people, and the state was established by Austria-Hungary. We don’t have a new language, our alphabet and grammar are the same with the ancient and the church has nothing to do with it. The Albanians never wanted to “delete” Greece from the map, simply because you never were able to do that. The Greek language was the worldwide language of the ancient times. Thanks to Alexander 🇬🇷 Hellenic language was the language of civilization back then. And you say we spoke Albanian? 😂 a barbaric language from Caucasus? LMAO our language is one of the most ancient one. Illyrians, as you claim you descended from, spoke Greek. Look at their ancient coins. They are all written in Greek. The first time Albania got its own language was from the influence of the Romans. Why do you believe that the Albanian language had the Latin alphabet (which was made by after the Greek alphabet)? Today in Greece the Albanian language is a dead language. It’s a language that it’s been made fun of. Albanian has never been an official language for the Greeks. Maybe you, jealous Albanian have to speak Greek to claim that you are Illyrian
