I switched across from Spyder a few months back. VS code is pretty neat once you set it up properly and install the right extensions.

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase the **stand-alone** Microsoft Office 2024 Professional (preferably Plus as it comes with MS Access)? Not the MS 365 subscription. Old guy here but used to be you could go to the store and purchase a box and it had CDs or DVDs in it and you'd install, then activate with a code inside the box. No more. Then you could go to Microsoft's website and purchase it and download it, install, etc. No more. Apparently we have to find someone to sell us the key? Also called Office 2024 LTSC I think? The stand-alone version which was recently released in October 2024 so its relatively new but I should still be able to find it. I was told to watch out for fake keys for $20. I expect legit keys to be several hundred dollars and that is OK. Thanks for any guidance on this!

If you search for buy Microsoft office 2024, you should find the purchase page. It seems you need to buy office and access separately (works out to be about NZ $250 and $200). Buy it from official channels (like Microsoft website).

For new laptop buyers who are interested in Data work, would you recommend Mac or Windows? Thanks.
@chandoo_14 күн бұрын
Windows. Most data work is done with other systems that rely on Microsoft infrastructure or software.
@AlBICIDI14 күн бұрын
@chandoo_ Tysm for the response. If I may quickly ask a follow up question, could you let me know your choice Windows laptop please? I've been struggling to choose one for a very long time. Just ordered a ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 9 but having second thoughts now since it comes with an Ultra U processor (which is not good for performance). Deeply appreciate your help.

@@chandoo_ I can't thank you enough for your answer to the follow-up question
@chandoo_13 күн бұрын
I haven't shopped for a laptop in almost 3 years, so my recommendations will be wrong. I suggest looking for below specs: - Good memory (16 gb min, but more is better) - Reasonable processor (one of the new gen intels) - Ability to easily hookup extra monitor or two (data analysis is a screen intensive work) - Enough space on the hdd to store lots of data, install programs and run databases server Whatever checks these boxes and comes cheap, I would buy that.

Which screen annotation tool are you using?
@chandoo_14 күн бұрын
I am using Camtasia for recording and editing videos. This is a paid application. For screen annotations, I am using Zoomit (from microsoft sysinternals). This is a free tool.

Hi annaya, Ive a issue in ma excel, I have two tables, Each table consists of more than 4.5 million rows and 10 columns, I want to join these two tables with the help of related column named date, But in both the tables, Date column has more than one non-unique values, Like 1/1/2024: text1, 1/1/2024: text2, 1/1/2024: text3. So, no unique dates, How Ive to relate these two tables in data model
@chandoo_11 күн бұрын
Create a third table with all unique dates across both datasets. Then use that to join both tables.

instead of installing all the things which took lot of time why cant we use google colab and code there just asking
@chandoo_9 күн бұрын
You can use that. But you would need internet connectivity, the colab is slow (as your code has to run on the cloud) and has limitations on what you can do. In work, 99% of time, you code with an IDE like VS Code and build, test on your computer first. So doing like I have shown is a good practice.
