Digging Out Tick Infested Cavern For A Python On Active Nest. Alright, ya'll we have a good nest capture today. Otto did it again and found us a good sized python on an active nest. The island was filled with thorns and I had to dig through a tick infested cavern to get at this python but we did it and I'm super happy we were able to get this python and nest out of the Everglades.

That's not a big clutch. I have seen at least double that. It wasn't a big snake, but eventually, they all get big.

A lot of the hatchings don’t survive the first few weeks after hatching. Still, if even a dozen snakes grow to adult size from a clutch of 70 eggs, it’s easy to see why these pythons have completely taken over the ecosystem.

you need to keep those ticks off you. If you have Lonestar ticks there please use a tick spray, I was bitten over 10 years ago at least by a Lonestar tick and got Alpha Gal and haven't been able to eat mammal meat for the last 8 years without having an allergic reaction that has sent me to the ER. It took the doctors time to find out what caused it. Please just take care is all i ask you.

Taking out a nest of eggs with a momma python is the absolute best possible outcome, Otto is truly badass. I can't believe you don't use bug repellent for the mosquitoes and ticks and no see-ums and horse flies and screw flies and...all those bugs that bite in the Everglades. I got eaten up just on the side of the road down there by skeeters. It can't be better out in the bush. So I'd use repellent.
@suep9445

Even the best bug repellent will still let some through, under those conditions.
@comfortablynumb9342
@comfortablynumb9342 Жыл бұрын
@@suep9445 yeah a small percentage will still get on you with repellent but if you deter 95% or even 50% it's an improvement. The worst bugs I've ever seen were in the Everglades, a swamp on the FL/GA border, and in Central America. I used repellent for years outside when I lived in Costa Rica, around the coffee farms there are little black flies that make you bleed a little drop of blood and then it itches, bad. That was in the mountains. At the beach it was no see-ums and mosquitoes. Anytime there are mosquitoes you can get bit fly eggs from the mosquitoes, the flies put them there so they drop on a host. Then you get a maggot. Screw flies that get in livestock in Florida are similar I think. And you can catch dengue from mosquitoes there, and now in Florida too, along with malaria. So I'd use repellent.

I once hitch-hiked to Key West from N.Texas, carried my surf-rods & lived there for almost 1 year. This made me a Floridian in my own mind & when the out of control pet breeding programs failed to control their animals, I was angry. All for them to make money & they failed to keep control of their animals. You can't blame the weather so now I'm proud of you boys busting arse to try to put the brakes on them! What I kinda think about is Otto or you guys dealing w/ a large Eastern Diamondback. That's a bad-arse snake & they do reside on these islands although you've forgotten more than I'll ever know. peace & GB ALL

Great dog! He listens and he LOVES the hunt. You are amazing removing and collecting data, from these invasive species I was wondering if you just put Those eggs in a freezer to make the eggs non viable? Does Frontline or something like that work on your dogs, for ticks? If the snakes see a good place to roost, and it’s rank and gnarley, Then all the heavy duty biting insects will be right there with them. I know you’re pretty strong, and sometimes I try to imagine what that feels like trying to pull it out of the hole or even just holding it. I once held a monitor that was tame, it was at a kids reptile party. It’s back legs were moving, it didn’t bite but it wanted down, and I was shocked at how STRONG the back legs felt. I love animals Myself, I would never keep reptiles, I feel like they should be free in their own habitat
