my father, a glider instructor, used to say that Wilga has the lifting surface of a heater. he couldn't trust an aircraft which you can't land with no engine.

WILGA has become a part of my personality and my life. One day I made a Ringelpietz due to lack of concentration and my boss (Rolf) saw it. But he didn't say one word and ordered me to refuel and to fly to Baden-Baden for Jahresnachprüfung, Funk etc. I could tell so many stories. Thanks to the Kontrukteure dieses absolut krass-geilen Fluggeräts. Ich durfte viele verschiedene Flieger erleben und jeder hat seinen eigenen Charakter wie Frauen und Mädchen. And I'm still flying.

One plane I'd love to own. I have several versions of it in my FSX stable. I love the version with tundra tires. I've been in love with this plane since I read about it in Plane and Pilot magazine many years ago (25... 30?) I know they were being sold from a dealer in Lindsay Ontario, Canada a number of years back, but I don't think they did well over here in sales. So sad. It's a beautiful plane to watch and I wish there were more of them here. Thanks so much for this great video. It was fun to fly along with you.

Yes ! The~ "Wilga"~ (the polish female name of the bird) it was a plane fully constructed and manufactured by polish aero-engineers I believe in 60's & 70's, that means during the communism regime time in Poland. ~"Wilga"~ plane, received a popular name as "Aero-Taxi", because of its capacity for carrying the pilot + three passengers, and also especially for the short distances of pretty short take-off and also landing (STOL). Polish Air Force was using a number of ~"Wilga"~ for military purpose. > I believe, but I am not 100% sure, that even up for today ~"Wilga"~ is still in production in Poland (PZL Okecie-Warszawa), or under the licence in Indonezia, but as a much modernized version of it rather that PZL [104-35]. |||| Fly !! ...~ Wilga ~.... Fly !!

Good description, and thanks for it. I understood that Wilga meant "swallow" as in barn swallow, a type of bird similar to the purple martin. I love the Wilga too... the old "35". I don't care much for the 2000. There's something very classy about that lovely radial engine. On the 2000, I hate the look with the cowling for a flat 6. It just looks wrong...

I'm so amazed at how much these this relatively smaller aircraft can carry. And how short of take offs and landings ot can do. I love this aircraft.

I saw this plane the first time in Air America , Thailand in 1972. Short take off must have been its advantage to work in Laos then.

Does anyone know the manufacturer/supplier of the additional exhaust-dampers, as mountend underside fuselage?? I would greatly appreciate if someone could provide this info. Kind regards.

Did you put a tracking device on it so it’s just a case of your camera falls off
Jumped for 23 years in the US and it looked a bit cramped for the two students. After seeing this I'd never complain about 5 in a 182.

I have never flown a Wilga, with that stated... can you climb faster with the first notch of flaps. Thanks
@freidenki5 жыл бұрын
The angle of climb (y/x) may be bigger (steiler), ok. But if you climb for example to 1200 m above ground, on my airfield ca. 1220 ft elevation +1200m, you will not gain advantage concerning feet per minute. In contrary, especially in summertimes you will get problems with the enginetemperature. You better have a lookout for thermik. I had climbrates of 1500 f/min (+) But attention to stallspeed due to instrument false IAS. You feel it in the "Ruderdrücke" in your hands and you hear it.

Descent and landing with engine idling, good job!!!
@wackaircaftmechanic231211 ай бұрын
It is almost impossible to land a Wilga that smoothly and that far down with idle power. He definitely had some power in until he was fully planted on the ground. The Wilga does not give you any time to float to the ground or flare without power. That being said, it takes effort and skill to land it smoothly at idle power.
