Coming atcha with that new Q&A, like butter 🤙 Thanks for tuning in!

For someone with athlete's foot, is it best to do the boot wader combo or the separated waders and boots?
@mattshadwell9495 жыл бұрын
I would recommend the stocking foot option for two reasons. If you fish still waters with a float tube you use stocking foot waders with flippers. The other benefit of buying the stocking foot + boots is that during summer in warmer climates you can "wet wade" without the waders but use the boots with neoprene socks. This is much cooler and more comfortable.

Matt Shadwell Yet another two reasons. Thanks Matt.

Good idea about stretching the fly line, I didn’t even think of using that technique before I started casting. Makes sense, I mean we do this with our leader/tippet! #Cheers

I'm pretty sure I'm the joke of Bennett Springs when I go but my BassPro duck hunting neoprene waders work awesome! Now, I walk very short distances and am not concerned too much w comfort. HOWEVER, if I was fishing in "real world" conditions, I'd go stocking foot/separate boot and may do so anyway. Hunting waders are HEAVY!As always, LOVE the videos and the knowledge I gain from them! Keep 'em coming!

Another answer to the “line vs reel” for fighting a fish is whether or not you’re keeping tension. With small fish, you might need to “hand line” just to keep your rod flexed and the fish hooked. With bigger fish, the tension will usually be there…youll be able to reel up your slack without too much threat of your rod going straight. I reel whenever I feel it’s possible…as is mentioned in the video, hand lining brings in a ton of awkward slack depending on how far out you hooked em…

I bet I had 50-60 days in the mountains this summer in my first year fly fishing and I didn’t know about cleaning line. I did notice lots of dirt embedded in the line and tip sinking lol. Now I will go pick up some cleaner.

Can you clean sinking line with the same dressing or is that dressing only for floating line

I use a cleaning kit I made with two old fly reels. By reeling the line back and forth, each time using cleaner and dressing I find I don't have rat's nests in my fly line like when I put it all on the floor or the table.
