The Drug Classroom

Күн бұрын

In this video I discuss safe amphetamine use, my ideal drug policy, the fatal overdose potential of kratom, and more.
00:16 - "How problematic would using under 20 mg of amphetamine twice per week be?"
01:02 - "I'm curious what your ideal drug policy would be. If America does legalize all drugs, how do you think we should go about it? Should they be sold everywhere and be available to everyone, or should there be regulations? And do you agree with mandatory education for consumers?"
02:57 - "Hi, why don't you make a video about heroin?"
03:19 - "You can't even OD on kratom, if you took way too much you'll feel nauseous."
05:03 - "Rapid withdrawal [of quetiapine] causes all the problems the drug is professionally prescribed to affect."

The Drug Classroom (TDC) is dedicated to providing the type of drug education everyone should have. Drugs are never going to leave our society and there has never been a society free from drugs.
Therefore, it only makes sense to provide real education free from propaganda.
TDC doesn't advocate drug use. Rather, we operate with the intention of reducing the harm some substances can bring.
Feel free to ask questions!

What is the research about cannabis and sleep? I heard you talking about the amphetamines and sleep, so what would cannabis' effects be? Could be lucid, could be stimulating, could be depressant, conflicting ideas.

Jesse Montano excellent point. I agree as well. it's much more professional and effective for harm reduction. psyched substance is more of a entertainment channel with some effective harm reduction.

The thing is, not all people like this more sterile form of harm reduction. In my eyes, the common man is easier to teach, along with keeping their attention for longer, if it's more "hip" and fun. Just look at Drugslab. Sure, the way Seth present his content is much more intellectual, but not everyone like it this way. And me personally, I love both in some ways, so I watch them all :D

Thanks for answering my question on drug policy! I fear that full “free market” legalization could lead the drug industry to repeat what we’ve seen with tobacco: unhelpful lobbying and misinformation campaigns. In an unregulated system, there are no incentives for drug companies to take into account the well-being of their consumers. Companies would heavily advertise drug use in all its forms by exaggerating the benefits and downplaying the risks. Research on the benefits of drugs would get much more funding than research on the potential harms. What do you make of this? I’m not sure I agree that all ways of legalizing drugs are better than prohibition. If an unregulated industry manages to misinform people on the effects of drugs, they might convince large chunks of the population, who would’ve otherwise remained abstinent, to begin using drugs irresponsibly. Ultimately, a legalization policy that doesn’t successfully address drug abuse might also lead to a public backlash and hence a reinforced cracking down on drug. So yeah, I can see several ways that legalization might go wrong and I think we have to be very careful how we go about it. Your position sounds like it could lead to something like an “emergency legalization” of all drugs. In my opinion that could end up being detrimental to the overall cause. I’d start by decriminalizing consumption and possession of personal amounts and then come up with a well thought out plan how to make legalization work before implementing any further policy.

Well i would agree all forms of legalization are better than prohibition. Prohibition limits research and often increases abuse. So it gets rid of something good and with doesn't gilet rid of anything bad or it adds more bad I'd say prohibition sucks. I'm with TDC's constitutional interpretation.

First of all, thanks for your videos, then if anyone has experienced, i wonder if kratom can fully substitute heroïn ? i heard there are different varieties (strongnesses). If so, i'd like to know which and how much kratom would it take daily to completely kill withdrawals for an heroin enthusiast sniffing about 1 or 1.5 grams/day ? Than you very much and please pardon my english (as it's not my first language). BTW, i fully agree on the drug policy explained here. Peace and take care whoever and wherever you are.

Have you ever heard of using DOx drugs as study drugs? Being a long lasting amphetamine with the psychedelic aspects being underwelming at small doses, I could imagine it being useful for multi hour study/reading sessions at doses hovering above threshold

I was prescribed duloxetine 60 mgs, and amitriptyline 75 mgs daily. My doctor won't let me taper off either of these drugs, but a couple months ago, I was only taking duloxetine, and my doctor told me to stop taking the duloxetine, and just take Wellbutrin. I asked him about withdrawals from duloxetine, and he said no. I did go through withdrawals on Wellbutrin when I stopped duloxetine for almost 5 days, until I stopped taking Wellbutrin, and started taking duloxetine again.

Seroquel withdrawal is similar in some ways to opiate withdrawal...after I got clean from opiates I swore I would never get dependant like that again and never go through that he'll again... When I was prescribed Seroquel they never warned me of the withdrawal that could happen if I suddenly stopped... Chills, no appetite, sweating, diarrhea, insomnia... When it happened I was immediately reminded of opiate withdrawal, and I didn't want to go through anything like that again..it wasn't nearly as bad but still, it wasn't fair for me to go through that they should have warned me I would have never taken it regularly

In my opinion, drug legalisation under a free market would have terrible consequences. But my political philosophy - communism - might differ radically from yours. I just believe that free enterprises will do anything to gain profit, whereas drugs are something that should be heavily regulated and conform to strict standards. Obviously, drugs should be legal and available, but I think that a state owned enterprise should be in charge of production and its safety standards. But then again, that is what I believe in the case of all means of production - seize 'em!

There is no significant physical dependence on amphetamines that isn’t caused by the drugs side effects. There may be a dysphoric hangover from a week long sleepless binge. If you wanna talk physical dependence let’s talk opiate/opioid and benzodiazepine/barbiturate dependence. I have spent far too long in the game to not have noticed the vomiting dope fiends v the jittery tweakers.
@TheDrugClassroom
@TheDrugClassroom 6 жыл бұрын
Physical dependence does exist with amphetamines with prolonged use. Tolerance and withdrawal are both present. And indeed, dependence also exists with opioids and GABAergic drugs, among other classes.
