The boys INTEND to tackle TWO submitted questions but only manage one: Are open-joint claddings better moisture-managed better than traditional lap claddings? The challenges of an exterior, air,water,and uv. Water is the most important, followed by uv,and finally air. Uv must be blocked somehow,cladding is the easiest way to meet this challenge. If you have open screen, you will need a 2nd uv stable and waterproof surface underneath . Add a synthetic waterproof non-uv stable on rainscreen,then cladding for uv. In the southeast and southwest,uv is a huge issue for longevity. I always enjoy learning from the channel ,thanks again fellas!

So how "open joint" can you go? Recently I watched a video from a sheet metal siding manufacturer and they discussed using perforated metal panels for your exterior wall cladding. Would that be enough of a barrier to water (about 30% of the metal panel was punched out with small holes) or should you stick to solid boards with narrow gaps between them?

How do you determine the spacing that insures more able to dry than remain wet.

Tobacco barns all have spaces in their cladding. There are thousands of them

"Open Joint Cladding" Isn't brick open joint cladding? Don't we use weep holes on most brick?

Think of the jokes/interruptions as wetting. I think the "screening" needs bigger gaps. 😂 Still enjoyed it, though.
