Ashleigh, I just met you briefly at the grocery store about a month or so ago with Peter and Betty in your arms. I was SO incredibly awkward but you were amazing and, might I say, gorgeous! But I was so awkward I didn't get to say what I really wanted to say to you- so I'll say it here. THANK YOU for being an inspiration to me as a mom! You are such a beautiful person inside and out. Truly. Thank you so much for being YOU and for sharing that here with us.

I’m one of 11 kids and we had no real laundry system. Either we took care of our own laundry (once we were old enough) or take it to the laundry room and mom would run a couple loads a day. Usually she would fold it or at least pull it all out straight and we had to take ours to our rooms.

I so agree about knowing when to have another baby! Your answer reminded me of 1 Corinthians 2:14: “14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” When you have a relationship with God, the Holy Spirit can help you to discern spiritually in a way that goes beyond words. 🤗

I always seem to miss the Q & A post on multiple people I follow but I’m curious what is the relationships with your older kids with your younger kids? I have six kids and my oldest is 6. I just had twins and I told everyone we were done but now my husband and I are considering a 7th one (really hope it will only be one - I don’t want to do the twin pregnancy again). The thing for us we never wanted a huge age gap in between our kids. I do know that my oldest won’t have the same relationship with the twins as he does with the second and third child. I keep putting pressure on myself that I need to decide now and we should have the seventh right away. Then I keep telling myself that isn’t the case and I really need to let my body heal and work on getting those areas stronger. We have been so blessed with our kids and unfortunately we don’t have a great family support system. I want my kids to have healthy relationships with their sibling and with us. We wanted so badly to have a solid family but our family on both side are complicated and a lot of drama. This is a big reason why we wanted to have a big family but if we were honest four was our number but now we have six.

My sister and I were 8 years apart and childhood was a little iffy, but we love each other now, but there was no one between us. I agree with Ashley that the 2.5 year age gap is really good in my experiance.
@stephanie-atarahrose.81492 жыл бұрын
I am letting God decide my children. I grew up 8 years apart from my sister and we were the closest among 4 kids (she’s the youngest And i’m the second oldest). I bet it helped her birthday was February 17th and mine is February 19th. Sometimes we can get stuck in imagination, thinking only one outcome is the best, and worrying or thinking too much about potential/ the future. When we let go is sometimes the most freeing thing for decision making.

I am the oldest of 5, spread over 13 years. I am best friends with my sister who is 9 years younger than me. We talk every day. I don’t think it’s necessarily true the oldest won’t have the same relationship. It could be even better than with siblings close in age. I also see my brother and his wife who are 13 years younger regularly. ♥️ Good luck with your decision.
@Ashley.Heather2 жыл бұрын
Re the relationship between siblings. I believe it depends how you raise your kids. How are you involved with them, how do you involve them with each other, etc. Seven is a lot of kids! Of course it is up to your husband and you. Babies are always a blessing! If you think your husband and you have the patience and room/energy to add another after twins, then you should if prayer and contemplation has you thinking it is the way to go. There is nothing wrong with giving your body time to heal and waiting to see how it goes with the twins though. I couldn’t imagine having a third right now with my youngest at 7 months, but every baby and family is different. I love the 3.5 year difference between my two ❤

I'm pregnant with #6 and was craving diet coke and coke for a month. I do not drink soda ever so it was weird. I'm 14/weeks my last birth was a free birth as well however, my son experienced birth complications ( not trying to fear monger) Im still a huge advocate for free birth. I long for another shot at it but more than likely wont.

My sister has been losing hair because she’s anaemic and has been ever since she had her second pregnancy. She can’t absorb iron properly through just diet anymore, and needs to take iron supplements but it has given her thicker hair again. Maybe look into your iron levels to see if that helps?
@shelbys27502 жыл бұрын
Just fyi, B12 complex can help with absorption.

Hi, are you a polygynist family household (2 or more wives)? Either way, Congratulations on your family!
@momofmany81172 жыл бұрын
All of my kids are less than 2 years a part. Two are 14 months apart and 2 are 18 months apart. The first two were definitely like having two babies. I like them close. My 7th and 8th will be 21 or so months apart. And that's a good age. Does your age ever play a factor in home births? I've had natural hospital births and was able to labor on my own. But having moved I'm thinking of a home birth. But at an obgyn I'm 38, so that's high risk, even though I never have any complications.
@shelbys27502 жыл бұрын
If you can find a good midwife I think it is totally worth it. If you havent had any problems before you're age shouldn't be a concern.
@soozie4him3082 жыл бұрын
Ashleigh doesn't get prenatal care from a doctor OR a midwife, so that wouldn't be an issue for her. For me, I wouldn't have a home birth if I was over 35. My daughter had her 4th and last baby at 39 and went to the maternal fetal medicine doctor for a couple of visits and she felt it was well worth the extra trouble to have him check her over. He told her that many women are having babies when they're over 40 these days.
@bostelmanfamily2 жыл бұрын
I’m 37 with my fifth and my OB has not labeled me high risk. I think it all depends on who you see and what your preference is for prenatal, labor, and postpartum care. It would not deter me from a home birth. Other factors are more important.
@sineaddolan14132 жыл бұрын
I thoroughly agree with keeping induction of pregnancy to medical reasons only, I had 4 inductions due to poor placentas and my own health and they are no fun you're forcing your body and baby to go from 0 to 100 in a small amount of time and most result on complications so I would avoid where possible.

You are at tremendous risk of postpartum hemorrhage. It is a lot better that you see a physician and have imaging done in the second trimester, but there seems to be a lack of concern or perhaps meaningful awareness about how quickly things can go wrong. There are religious people who are internet famous who don't properly wear seat belts or properly keep their mega family in car seats because of similar rationales about the Holy Spirit and have multiple members of their extended family who are paralyzed and confined to wheelchairs due to car accidents (and said family members still share their beliefs). Ironically they actually see MFMs and OBs and give birth at hospitals but then on the other hand don't wear seat belts because their belief is God is guiding them not to.
