A note on covid: cases actually do matter. We don’t have research yet on the long term effects but there’s a lot of anecdotal evidence about people developing new medical conditions after having covid such as asthma and heart problems. It seems like a lot of people who “recover” don’t actually make a full recovery.
@runaway_cheerio27644 жыл бұрын
Yesss, thank you. The long term effects on health, even in young and otherwise healthy people, is so scary to me! We don’t know what the ramifications of this virus are in 5/10/20 years, so the fact that cases are blowing Up, even if deaths are down, is seriously so dangerous.
@onarose4 жыл бұрын
@@runaway_cheerio2764 There is no such thing as a contagious virus. Germs do not cause disease, they are always a response to disease. Research the Germ Theory hoax. It has been disproven many times but it's lucrative ("attack" germs..."cure" illness)...disease is always the result of TOXINS. So the real question is, what toxins are making people sick, which is being blamed on a healing virus??
@runaway_cheerio27644 жыл бұрын
@@onarose Hi Ana! First of all, I'm not a medical professional, so I'm sure I'll get some of this language a little wrong, but let me try to engage with some of these ideas. I don't want to debate about the existence of coronavirus, or the knowledge we have that it is a communicable disease, and we absolutely must social-distance, wear masks, and do all we can to keep ourselves and other's safe by staying sanitised, and head the advice of medical professionals. I do, though, want to quickly respond to your claims about toxins: I would argue that the concept that our bodies are full of 'toxins' and we need to find ways to 'detoxify' for our health is entirely a product of capitalism: companies want you to believe that your body is full of 'toxins', so that you'll buy essential oils, soup and juice cleanses, diet books, colonics, crystals, miracle supplements, etc., to promote the 'detoxifying' process. But, as you have asked, what ARE these so-called toxins - what specific compounds, identifiable by empirical evidence, are 'toxic' inside of your body? What is the medical evidence which shows us that these 'toxins' do, in fact, lead to disease or unpleasant symptoms? How do these methods of 'cleansing' remove these 'toxins'? Most of the time, people who are making claims about 'toxins' cannot even answer these simple questions in any satisfactory way. The truth, which has been undeniably proven by medical science and is the medical consensus among the vast majority of medical professionals, is that your own organs, and your body's natural mechanisms, are the only means you NEED, and the only means which WORK, to 'detoxify' your body: your organs are working constantly to 'detoxify', and this process happens every time you pee or pass stool, sweat, or your liver functions as normal. So, in short, the idea that disease is caused by 'toxins' is simply not true: the only people who are invested in you believing this are either 1. trying to sell you something to 'cleanse' your body, and line their own pockets, or 2. are people who, themselves, have been preyed on by these swindlers, and are repeating what they earnestly believe is true. But it isn't true. The pseudoscientific notion of toxins has been born from a predatory and sinister effort by money-makers to prey on people who are feeling unwell, or unsatisfied with themselves, and sell them nonsense 'cures' with impossible claims. I implore you to trust doctors and scientists when they tell you that your body is not full of toxins - these are highly experienced and knowledgable people, and we ought to defer to their expertise: being an Expert, having years of experience and decades of study, should matter. We should absolutely trust those who are certified in the medical field, and their consensus is that the idea of 'toxins' is a myth. Author Isaac Asimov summed up my sentiments here when he said the following: 'The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge'.' TLDR: Please don't buy a detox tea!

For actual studies to be done with evidence based advice for immune systems, it is waaaay too soon for anything to be published. The CDC & doctors have to recommend things that are supported by published research. That process takes about 1-2 years. Additionally, cases DO matter because the virus can have life long implications. We still don’t even know what kind of virus it is but many experts think it is a neurological virus. People who have COVID are most often sick for MONTHS and have several life long complications such as cardiac and respiratory conditions. Deaths aren’t the only thing that matters. Supplements are not proven to do anything.
@jessiej27194 жыл бұрын
Not to mention cases matter as far as hospital capacity to care for COVID patients. I’m a nurse so I’m prob extra sensitive to it but people going around saying cases don’t matter when me and my coworkers legit need therapy for PTSD from what we’ve seen with COVID is upsetting.
@itssosarahh4 жыл бұрын
I feel you, I think focusing on the number of deaths is a misguided way of thinking. As an everyday civilian, I see increased cases and I see increased suffering: the horrible cases you mentioned, the backbreaking work done by medical staff, the families struggling. I hope you can get the care you need when this is "over."

Assuming that "most" people are going to have "lifelong" complications is no less erroneous than believing that supplements help (which legit, public studies have proven that vitamin D does, in fact, help). There is NO ONE out there who has been in recovery from Covid for more than 4-5 months absolute tops. To make such a blatant generalization is not only dramatic, but it's alarmist, which certainly doesn't help either. Not to mention that there is absolutely no accurate data on how many people have actually had it, so "most" is likely a drastically smaller percentage of people than we think.

My mom and I had covid back in April and we both take vitamin D3 and zinc and have been taking it for years and both of us were severely sick. I also started getting a lot of vitamin C when I first got sick and it ended up giving me kidney stones. My rheumatologist said that they are finding vitamin C is giving people with covid kidney stones. I was sick for about 4 and a half months and am still having lingering symptoms. Covid is such a controversial thing and there are still so many things that are unknown. Some treatments work for some people and not for others. I think the problem with it is that it’s SO different for everyone who gets it and there are SO many weird symptoms and everyone is responding to different treatments.

The thing about COVID 19 is that even when you survive there is a good portion of people both young and old who have permanent damage to their body; heart damage, lung damage, etc. So the case number still matters because there are long term effects. Megan. I love you so so much❤ for the COVID topic, I respect your opinion soo much girt! But I think cases do matter since if the health system crashes (because there's too many people on ICU or beds are full) not everybody is going to have a chance to be seen and taken care of. This is what's happening in Costa Rica. We haven't gotten to a stage where doctors have to decide who to help and who just doesn't have a chance, but the increase of cases does matter. That also means people are not distancing and are still being out there completely taking this for granted. This is just my opinion! I would love for this thing to end haha. Loved the cinnamon pull apart ❤

@StrawberryDana4 жыл бұрын
Hi Megan! The thing with everyone focusing more on the cases rather than the deaths is because if you control the number of infections you make sure that the health system doesn't collapse, therefore the people that are getting infected can get the necessary attention from hospitals and will survive the virus. Information like intake on vitamins is not 100% proven by the scientific community as a treatment for this specific virus, we don't have immunity for this new virus, therefore the only way we can get it is by getting infected (and surviving) and with a vaccine, since this is a pandemic, cases are increasing rapidly all over the world, the health system is not able to cope with all the infections so a lot of people die, that's why quarantine is so important. I'm a biologist btw, there is a lot of information being generated by the scientific and medical community every day, they are all working very hard to find a treatment and the cure. Which we don't have at the moment.

Omg I never thought I’d meet someone who would had the same views as me on the date question! I’ve met countless of people who would much rather talk about themselves and by the end I know almost everything about them and they know barely the minimum about me.

Like how your honest about your past drug use. Hate when other KZbinrs act like they’ve never tried any drug. Hope all is well from Texas🤗❤️

Megan I swear we are the same person! I don’t tell anyone what I do either, so that I don’t have to explain to people if I fail etc lol
