And how could I forget to mention this..I'm excited not just about the new opportunity but also the fact that I'm taking a chance on it! I was dealing with so much internal resistance before so I'm really proud of myself for getting past that. Leave any thoughts below! If I didn't answer anything in enough detail or if there is any way I can help - please let me know ❤

HI Christine! It’s so wild to think about how I subscribed to you when I was in high school and now we’re both in our 30’s and in very similar places in life! Thank you for being so relatable and being an unexpected source of insight into the journey of healing from burnout and life changes. I’ve been at my current position for 5 years now and my husband and I are on the cusp of moving to an entirely new country. I won’t be able to work there immediately so I’ll be forced to have a gap in my resume but in all honesty I really need the rest and space to ask those questions and find what I’m looking for. I particularly love your advice about looking at corporate vs. Non-corporate life as a black and white thought pattern and that it’s totally fine to keep exploring that path in different ways to determine what is the right fit for you. I hope you keep doing these periodic updates because it’s so nice to see how you’re doing. Happy that you’re in a good place now and still growing :)

I totally agree with you about being in a safe psychological work environment where people value communication. I left my last toxic work environment with no plan B and I was lucky to find my current job rather quickly because of my skill set and experience. I didn't know my worth until I started looking again. But it took a while for me to get over my last job because it was so toxic that I was bringing alot of fear into my new job. It's slowly getting better with therapy and alot of support from coworkers. Congratulations on your new role! Because you took a break to find out what you want, I'm sure this role will be a better fit for you as it did with me. 😀

Never disappointed it is so refreshing to see positive comments about working a corporate job. Social media would have you believe that it is the worst thing and everyone is unhappy they are many of us that thrive in that environment and look you said sometimes we have to think long term and compensation is important

Any HR people here? I'd like to get your perspective on the career gap. I feel like it should be considered normal for everybody to take time for themselves to heal or travel or explore other things. We are not machines after all. As long as we have the means to support ourselves during the gap, it really shouldn't be a big deal.

Thanks for sharing with us once again your career decision. I am dealing with pretty much the same things. Being in the finance industry for over 10 years, and dealing with the pandemic, I really want to take a break. but I am literally afraid to do so. I just have fear about leaving the stability now even though it is a stagnation stage where I cannot move up to any new position, and there isn't anything new that excites me. But what i have now is comfortable and familiar. Do I dare to leave ? But if i stay, I seem to be more and more discouraged and unhappy. With pink slips layoff going around, I just wonder....what am i suppose to do for myself internally, and for my career (through the external markets)?

Hi Christine! I was wondering what video editing software you use. Ive been on a hunt for something that gives versatility and i'm narrowing down to FCPX but i'm not sure what else to explore. thank you! my channel is new and only with 3 videos and i'm hoping to learn more skills and up my game! Been watching you since your sitting on the ground doing make up and when NYX jumbo eye pencils were the bomb! i loved growing up with your via cyber space!

Hi! I've used FCPX for a while and do enjoy the ease of it! I am currently training myself to be more proficient w Adobe Premiere for work and may overtime transition into solely using Premiere just so my brain doesn't have to keep adjusting to either or but I really do love FCPX and would recommend it :)

How do you know a company or role would provide a safe space for you? Every interview I ask about the culture And they all say we’re like family. Every. Single. One. At the job I have more they said that, and they aren’t lying if They mean a disfunctuonsl family
@xteeener
@xteeener 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that :/ Yea using the word "family" can be a bit risky bc it can set unrealistic or unhealthy expectations. I'm actually glad I did as many interviews with as many hiring managers as I did because I started picking up on certain cues. A big part of it is gaining an understanding of how the manager approaches work and what their values are and see if it aligns with yours. I went off of a strong hunch and so far have not been proven wrong.

Thanks for sharing your journey, it's nice to see realness/authenticity from online creators! Struggling with internal resistance and fear...as I'm considering the return to corporate. Medium term goals necessitate a fulltime corporate income at least for foreseeable future, so have decided to stop 'retraining' into a different career for now (as would take years) and not trying/invest into entrepreneurial hustle. (Even though I know either would be a better fit for me than corporate..) Considering changing areas within corporate though (eg HR/Marketing vs Finance etc..done enough roles and career breaks to know what I dislike), which requires starting from the bottom and possibly hard to break into without the experience/background - and like you, trying to find a role/company that's the "right fit". but also facing internal "what if I hate those too / I dont think those are for me either but it's the next best bet?" ..question of reframing mindset clearly, which u seem to have overcome :)
