When I was going through my teacher training many years ago, we were instructed to stop our reactions when it felt natural to say, "Don't ......" and rephrase the statement with what we wanted the child to do. This keeps the atmosphere focused in the right direction. Also, we were told to say, "I need you to..." often instead of just barking out orders all the time. This makes the child feel like their being helpful. This worked beautifully decades ago in a small country school. Decades later in a highly populated area, things have changed so much in our culture, I decided to resign and keep my sanity. Now I'm on a mountain growing things. Life is more peaceful. Love your channel! Families like yours give me hope for the future of our country.

Thank you for the Q & A Sessions. Really Enjoyed them all. And thanks for answering my question! Also with my 4 children my mother gave me excellent advice about noisy or loud or fighting children,. Redirect that energy somewhere else. Also your children are what you tell them they are. Never say for instance "You are always picking fights" etc. Your children become what you tell them. Praise them for the good and redirect those sometimes onery moments into something positive. Also God was a big part of our raising our children just as yours is. I think that really helped.

I love the honesty! We have 4 at the moment and are just in general loving it! I share so many of your thoughts on things you thought you may be attacked for! When we shared about our 4th we got "well now you have to move!". As Christians we should be counter cultural!! (Not materialistic, activity focused etc). Also, we use and love Leading Little Ones to God!

Loved the Q&A. Even though I didn't ask any questions, many of the ones you covered were things I was wondering as well. I am glad you didn't edit out certain parts, they make me feel normal as a soon-to-be mom of 7, haha. If you get around to another Q&A, I would love to know if you ever just have a bad day or days where you yourself just feel crabby. I think sometimes having many kids really brings out the introvert in me and it is a source of guilt. I don't want my kids to feel like I don't want them around. On another note... I keep seeing Isabella in Lydia. All your kids look very similar though!
@jasonandjulie5 жыл бұрын
Yes I definitely have crabby days AND bad days both! 😆😜 Jason gives me a “night off” once a week where I go to a Panera Bread Co, eat dinner alone, and work on KZbin stuff in peace and quiet. I look forward to it each week! Everyone needs a chance to catch their breath

Do you have any resources on reasons to raise a big family....or positive books on having a big family? I feel VERY called to having a big family and my husband is mildly reluctant. We need to discuss this more, but he is more of a plan as you go type--not someone who goes into things with a 5-10 year plan. Anyway, not wanting to say anything negative, but rather just looking for resources that are encouraging in this area. Thank you so much!
@jasonandjulie5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your sweet words 😊 We’re a bit more like your husband. We stumbled into having a large family and have adopted a “learn as we go” kind of mentality. I did read the raisingolives.com blog several years ago. She has a page there on “reasons why we have a large family” Any at raisingarrows.com is a large family mom I just love! She has a section on large family life as well. She is a beautiful dose of joy and grace whenever you need it! For Jason and I, it was just being convicted that God wanted us to trust him with our family size that led us to having a large family. It was a slow realization though, that really solidified for me after our 4th child. I’d say keep praying for your husband and yourself also. God is faithful and will guide you both ♥️

oh my goodness I had to laugh...your comment re: not filming the kids squabbles/squabbling because you don't enjoy it, and would imagine that we would not either...well thank you for that! sincerely because I have six grandkids who are absolute blessings, living next door on our property and ...they do squabble daily as did their parents when young and I don't enjoy that either, nor did I enjoy it when their parents were small ...but you know I do believe that kids do sincerely take things to heart when we try to instruct them, with faith as the basis ...and when we encourage them also to, think about things in faith as well...

@@jasonandjulie what made following happen? Oh and another utuber that I really enjoy is The Minimal Mom. She has 4 or 5 kids, sorry forget at the moment and a twin sister who is a pastor. They are a Christian family and she is a minimalist. I enjoy watching how she deals with birthdays and Christmas and stuff as well as many other aspects. You may enjoy her also. I also watch a Modern Mennonite family with many children, Christian musical family, has lived in a tiny house and a van at one time, called Tiny Notes from Home. You may enjoy those also, in your spare time :)
@dianebyrum36963 жыл бұрын
I enjoy your family, children are a blessing. When you built your tiny house why did you not built a larger house for your family.I think Julie has a lot on her she is with the children all the day. Maybe Jason could get started on trying to get the family in a larger home I thing holy spirit would be in it.
@jasonandjulie3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Maybe you haven’t watched our videos talking about the process of why we are in this house and what is happening with the big house progress. We are currently working on plans and permits with our county for our future build. We made our current house this size because the building was already here! So we just finished it to our liking 😊

I think real food without the preservatives-like our grandparents ate from their gardens or slaughtered in their back yards-oh, yes, they did-that’s the best. God clarified to Peter that all food is good, since He made it. What God is concerned with is what comes OUT of our mouths. We need to stop obsessing about food.
