Great video Alan, you make a good double act. In 1984 I travelled from Glasgow, Scotland down to Newcastle for 6 weeks for work purposes, and a group of us stayed in Whitley bay where the Spanish city was, we spent a full Sunday there, great memories every time I hear tunnel of love. Best wishes for the new year from Scotland 🏴 🇺🇲

Aw, man, this was great in so many ways! I had been looking forward to this one and it sure didn't disappoint. Thanks, Alan, so much for starting off with my questions--I'm honored! You and Kari just emanate fun together--what a great couple! And some neat coincidences for me in this video. I actually attended SUNY Albany (as sort of post-bacc extra coursework), but in the mid-90s. And funny that Kari wanted to bail from, of all things, Jethro Tull--my favorite band! All the musical points were interesting ones and Kari was a natural. This video was so welcome, as I had a few challenges this week so this was a great pick me up right near the end of this year, so thank you both!! And Happy New Year to your whole family. :D Looking forward to more great content in '25!

That school sure got much bigger from when we went (1981-1985). Trust me...lol....I was not a happy man leaving Tull at the end of their concert....lol. I hope your challenges are better and I hope you and your family have a safe, healthy and happy New Year. Very best, Alan (and kari too).

Happy New Year!! A really fun video! Very cool to meet your long suffering better half. I see many similarities between your marriage and mine. Carol gets very tired of the music I listen to, which could be almost anything. Her tastes are very narrow in scope. Time Waits For No One may well be my favorite Stones song of all time. I SO love the solo that Mick Taylor plays to finish the song. Truly amazing, even if a tad Santana-inspired, and a fitting end to Mick's time with the band.
@TheAlanRosenbergShow8 сағат бұрын
I am lucky in that over time Kari does enjoy most of the music I play. So that's a benefit. Hopefully Carol warms up to yours. The big question is does Carol like Time Waits For No One, because it sure grew on Kari. Such an incredible song and yea - perfect way for Taylor to go out. Untouchable and thankfully The Stones have never tried it live, because, like Sway, they'll never pull it off.

Hi Alan hilarious video. My wife Erin and I were laughing so much at this one. It seems we are both living a parallel life with our wife’s putting up with our music obsession. Really if the 4 of us ever met it would be like looking in a mirror. Like Kari, Erin is really cool at accepting my music addiction, she even coming with me to see the Dylan movie, even though I know she doesn’t really like him. Fortunately though she likes the Beatles and Stones, nowhere as much as me of course but it would have been a deal breaker if she didn’t and we probably would never have dated. See how nuts I am. Anyway I think Erin might send you a comment too. Happy New Year to you and Kari!!🎉

Anyway, yea sounds like the four of us would get along fine with lots of laughs. Happy and Healthy New Year to you, Erin and your family. Very best, Alan. (and Kari).

Happy New Year to you both, and thanks for the fun video! Ahhhh, always nice to see such genuine congeniality and fun, especially with Kari being such a good sport--since this is not her domain. Alan, you do have a very genuine warmth and inviting quality to your persona and delivery--it's what made your channel so appealing to me when I first discovered it. Obviously your content is what initially caused me to click in the first place, but I just thought this video was the proper context in which to let you know that. Hmmmm...I begin thinking what a video of me and my wife would produce--I am, as you know, a Stones scholar (or I like to think I am) and she is an obsessive Beatles fan and collector. Beyond that, you guys seem to be having a good time....I wonder how long before ours would delve into an argument--and I don't mean Beatles v. Stones (ha Ha). However, a couple of questions--I noticed the quick toss off of the Celine title? Just wondering why, aside from it's just not your style or genre. I have always had a cool relationship with all singers, female and male. I know serious music fans who LOVE singers, even if they are not necessarily into that given genre or style. Of course, singers are musicians, in that the human singing voice is, ultimately an instrument all its own. But many great singers of our time, I simply do not like an any level. Adele is the most obvious example for me. I do not deny the 'greatness' of her instrument, but I cannot listen to her at all. Her cloying, erratic personality doesn't help, and the formulaic nature of her recordings and career seems a little too manufactured for me. The fact that she has sold billions confounds me even more, but her recordings are very well produced. Perhaps you should consider a video on your favorite singers--beyond the obvious 'frontman' style, if you know what I mean. And not singer/songwriters, which you did...but singers. And even across genres, as the history of jazz and pop has many amazing singers, not only rock. Just a thought...thanks again for the great video!

@@anthonyaswe4174 thanks so much for your wonderful comments. Interesting idea about just singers. I’ve nothing against just singers. Love Olivia Newton John and Linda Ronstadt for instance. But Celine and steisand. Not for me. Not exactly sure why. Just don’t. But certainly amazing talents.

@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Oh, I also wanted to note how much I loved the Making Movies album as well--great songwriting (save Les Dingbats), great playing, great band. Really one of the best 'pained romance' expressions of that time. The spare song structures, Roy's understated piano, the pin-drop quiet production. Remember how, in the very early days of Dire Straits, Mark was being positioned as the "sexy" guy in the group?? The somewhat dreamy, pouty look they posed him with on the sleeve pics, the slightly seductive snarl...what the hell were those marketing guys thinking???

This was hilarious! I can relate Alan, my wife HATES Jethro Tull, she would have want to leave before Aqualung too. I also separated her CDs from mine when we got married and she got mad!! 😂😂 No Paula Abdul going in with my collection. No way. Ha ha

You're a lovely couple and you're blessed to have each other. You each seem to be a "keeper" for the other! 😂 I'm a lucky guy too: since May 1st 1990. Like you Alan, my wife is not into music one billionth as much as I am. Especially a lot of "my" music. We could be listening to something great in the car and she'll say "Don't you have any GOOD music?" 😂 God forbid I put on Tom Waits or some Indian music! In our early days I tortured her taking her on some concert dates: The 1st one was Ozzy Osbourne fresh into his solo career at the Palladium NYC, the place was going crazy, we were on the floor section standing on our seats (a row of folding metal chairs) and the whole thing collapsed. Of course to me, a veteran of Sabbath shows, Judas Priest, Kiss, Rush etc. it was nothing and I took it in stride. We all kept on rockin', but I seem to remember a look on her face of "what did you bring me to?!" I said "Welcome to my world!" 😂. 2 of her fave songs to this day though are the Oz's "Goodbye to Romance" and King Crimson's Matte Kudasai. The mellower stuff. And once when we saw Crimson (the Beat album tour I believe), on "The Pier", my friends and I were just amazed how they were able to recreate the studio album madness note for note live. Our jaws were dropping! Meanwhile, my wife and my friend's girlfriend were watching planes fly overhead. Gaaaaaahhh!!! Opposites attract is true I guess! I also took (dragged) my very pregnant wife to Rush at Radio City. It was a small venue show warmup for the big Grace Under Pressure or Power Windows tour. I think she was pretty uncomfortable at the time, but humored me once again and went along with it. Good woman. During our dating days, luckily REO Speedwagon's Hi Infidelity came out (I was already a fan, but it was all new to her), and we finally had something we both could agree on and enjoy. There ARE some other mutually liked bands/artists too. And she taught me to appreciate the likes of Sinatra and old movies. Anyway, tell your wife she's a trooper, and I completely know where she's coming from! 😂. Congrats on the 3K! Best wishes to you both and your family for a healthy, prosperous new year with continued happiness! 🎉🎊 Sincerely, Bob. Yup, real name's Bob. The kids/grandkids came up with Grumpy when we were originally thinking of a bit of a different name than just regular old "Grandpa". 😂 Ok, I'm ready for the Honeymooners and Odd Couple marathon's now. (Best part of New Year's eve! 😂) P.S. What town in Queens is Kari from? Just curious. I'm an old College Pointer.

Hi Grumpy. Thanks so much - love your comments - big laughs on our faces. Love your story with the collapsing folding chair at Ozzy - that's classic. Regarding New Years - the Honeymooners or Odd Couple is the best idea. We just got home from the Bob Dylan movie, which is FANTASTIC!!! by the way, but I can't stand watching the New Years TV. Boy do I feel and sound old, but it's AWFUL. Now I'm the Grumpy one...lol. Kari is from Jackson Heights by the way. Anyway thanks again and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

@ We used to go visit my aunt and uncle in Jackson Hts. I think 81st or 82nd street by the hospital. Like you, I REALLY can't watch any of that new years eve TV stuff. It's become a big mess. We'll tune in at the last minute for the ball, then back to the marathons. "Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve"?!! I don't think so. Not for decades now. Everything, except rock. And I'm with you. Old! Haha! I wouldn't want to be anywhere but home now, and every year, always wonder if I'll even make it to midnight. I wouldn't get worked up if I didn't. 🤣💤

@@grumpy-6890 Went to the Dylan movie last night and it was FANTASTIC - played scrabble after listening to some good music (Neil Young live at Carnegie Hall) and watched 1/2 hour of the ball drop with moronic hosts that I don't understand that they even get paid for their performances - just awful.. Yep, I'm officially old...lol.

@ Haha! Old is better than the alternative though! We tuned in to the ball drop at 1 minute to midnight. Watched 1/2 minute of confetti flying, then tuned back to the Odd Couple to see the Christmas Oscar/Scrooge episode while we had shrimp and cocktail sauce, sopressata and provolone. 😁 Didn't catch more than a passing glimpse of any moronic hosts/guests. 🤣 At least us oldsters made it to midnight and beyond, whereas a couple of my (grown) children and their families told us they were giving up at their homes, and going to bed! Made me feel less old! Haha! Again, happy new year!

@@bobfacchin2909 Lol- That's great. So funny that even some of our younger ones can't stand the horrible New Years' shows. Still love those Odd Couples myself.

I knew it! Women hate Clutter! I knew she was going to say something about your collection taking up too much space! I’m single but when I’m gone my sister is going to toss my extensive collection of rare CDs that I spent over 20 years collecting straight into the Dumpster. Or donate them all to Goodwill! Women are not into collecting unless it’s shoes or dresses. Nothing else! So now I know I must make out a Will so my collection doesn’t get broken up or trashed. That would be shameful and disrespectful to me. Anyway, this was fun to see your significant other. You seem like a good couple. I’m happy for you! Cool! The last three concerts I went to were SP Siamese Dream 1994 tour, KISS 96 Reunion and The Cure! All were great shows! But I missed Nirvana live in 1993 to my eternal regret and it was only $20! Can you believe that? I have the show on CD and it’s great with Encores. I missed a great show but how was I to know it was the last go around? I was blindsided. Thanks! This was interesting! One thing I’ve learned is that taste is very personal! Or subjective. You like what you like. Period.

Thanks. or pocketbooks, My wife loves bags, but no shoes. Wow so you haven't seen a show since the 90s. That's a long time. It's a lot more expensive these days, so you may be better off...lol. Thanks again.

Nice stories. Agree with the overplayed Beatles, a lot also ruined by Paul, who feels he needs to play more Beatles, than solo/Wings material, and to make matters worse it's the same Beatle songs concert after concert. Wings over America is how you do things right! Happy New Year to everyone!
@TheAlanRosenbergShow3 күн бұрын
oh Jason I am SO with you. I've refused to see McCartney live the recent decades because I have no interest in hearing the same classic Beatles tracks. And I know he is still great live and playing like 3 hours etc. I've just no interest - we saw live decades ago a couple of times and I enjoyed those because he was releasing really good new material that he played a lot of and more Wings Stuff. Wings Over America is actually one of my favorite albums too. Oh yea my friend - you nailed it. Happy New Year!!!
@jasonpp19733 күн бұрын
@TheAlanRosenbergShow I also have Rockshow on Blu-ray, it's the exact playlist used on Wings over America, might even be the same performances, but I'm not 100% sure.

@@jasonpp1973 I always loved the film Rockshow. I still have the laserdisc. I believe it was the Seattle show that was filmed. They pretty much had the same setlist for that amazing tour. Thanks and Happy new Year.
