Q&A with Santa Clara University (SCU) Student | academics, campus life, food, dorms
Food at SCU: • CAMPUS FOOD at Santa C...
I've been creating a bunch of videos about Santa Clara University / SCU in the last few weeks and collected a few questions from viewers. Hopefully this video will answer some of your most pressing questions about Santa Clara University's academics, student and campus life, the food on campus, and the dorms!
-----
Here's a bit about Santa Clara University's rankings:
In its first-ever showing in U.S. News & World Report’s National Universities category, Santa Clara University placed in the top 15 percent (No. 54) among nearly 400 national-level universities in the publication’s 2020 “Best Colleges” edition.
Last year, U.S. News ranked Santa Clara No. 1 in the West in the Regional Universities category. Due to a new classification system that takes into account the number of doctoral or professional degrees SCU awards annually, SCU has been elevated to national university standing.
Santa Clara also was noted for its excellence in undergraduate business education (No. 66 out of over 500 universities nationwide); undergraduate teaching excellence (No. 23 among national universities); and campus diversity.
-----
Here's a bit about Santa Clara University from SCU's website:
Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Santa Clara University blends high-tech innovation with a social consciousness grounded in the Jesuit educational tradition.
We are committed to leaving the world a better place. We pursue new technology, encourage creativity, engage with our communities, and share an entrepreneurial mindset. Our goal is to help shape the next generation of leaders and global thinkers.
Santa Clara's undergraduate and graduate programs span areas ranging from psychology to sustainable-energy engineering and from theatre arts to business analytics.

Hey, your videos on SCU are highly resourceful! I have a question regarding MS universities. Which one would be the high ROI among these: Interest is Data Science and Project Management 1. SCU MSIS 2. SJSU MS Data Analytics 3. SUNY UB MS Industrial Engineering 4. NEU MS Data Analytics Engineering 5. CSU Fullerton MSIS

Thanks so so much! I'm an international student, and officially a Bronco!! A few small questions- 1) I'm planning to buy the M1 MacBook air for college. Since it's an investment, I wanted to know if that'd be a good decision as a CS major at CAS? 2) I know you may be biased, but is Graham better or Finn? What are the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other?

Hey! Welcome to Santa Clara!!! 1. I think that computer is great all around, however, I don't think you need a powerful laptop to be successful as a CS major! It will definitely last you all 4 years though. 2. I don't think I would be able to give answer to be honest. Due to COVID, I haven't been in Graham and all I know is from pictures online. I do know that Finn is the newest dorm on campus!

Planning on applying for CS and wondering how impacted/competitive the major is at SCU. Really love the location, dorms, etc. My stats are 1510 SAT, 4.0 GPA, and 10 AP classes in HS. Unfortanately I don't have any CS activities since I never learned how to code until junior year. Never took AP CSA either. The question is, for my stats, am I good to consider SCU as a safe school? I'm above their 75th for SAT but once again CS is really competitive

@PaulBoldyrev 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Matthew! Your stats are essentially the same as mine were in high school. I did take AP CSA though but haven't coded until Junior year. If your essays are half decent (mention campus values, etc), I am sure that you will get into SCU. This is definitely not a reach for you :)

What type of computers do most students on campus use? Are Macs or PCs more supported or does it not matter?
@PaulBoldyrev
@PaulBoldyrev 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Really good question, I was wondering the same thing a year ago. I would say 80% have macs. However, I don't think that it is necessary for success and I know a bunch of people who use PCs regularly.

How is parking? Is it difficult to find parking?
@PaulBoldyrev
@PaulBoldyrev 3 жыл бұрын
Parking on campus is paid (~$500/year). There is some street parking near campus but it is inconsistent. There are ZipCars around though which replace having to own a car!
