@def creator i see what your saying fam. I dont use the ahh and fresh samples to much when i practice cuttin it up on the wheelz of steel that often these years. Its gotten rather redundant after years of hearing it. But i do agree most djs including myself could use more creativity in our routines. Witnessing the last couple of dmc us finals has been some what of a let down seeing that to many djs are relying to heavily on thier drum pads in thier routines. Maybe its time for a rebirth in the art of turntablism. Peace out and keep it true dunz.

Thats what I thought in 1991 when I quit after 6 yrs of scratching as I couldnt see any future in it and had mastered all the techniques of the time including transforming which was only a few years old. Then got back into it in 2004 after missing my technics and everything had changed massively and needed a completly different approach and technique, far more finger control than wrist, lol. At that stage I couldn't even do the basics, a bit like Aladdin at scratch con 2000 but the mixer I had was whack so had an excuse! Whatever you do don't quit as you will regret it.

A sponsored event where ''the big companies'' try to let you believe this is ''the gear'' you need to play like ''the big stars''. There are several good and even better alternatives on the market and every serious DJ know that. Don't get me wrong,the DJ's are fine but I always feel like I'm ''in a circus'' when watching these video's. The beat is pretty ''boring'' by the way. And no,I don't start any discussion !! That's just my opnion these days.
@pastense6 жыл бұрын
This is turntablism, its basically jazz musicians as Djs. The beat is supposed to be stripped down so that the Djs can highlight their improvisation. They aren't mix Djs (even though they could rock a party if they wanted to). Their purpose IS NOT to shake that booty. They're artists expressing themselves. Nothing else.

@@bestdnbmixes4275 ok....then why comment if u don't understand wtf's goin on? lol I feel your opinion, but your opinion doesn't make sense in the context of this video. This ain't 'entertainment' bruh, it's ART. The marketing of gear in this genre is irrelevant. Your push-button DJs don't and never will understand this shit. Mind you, this ain't the best representation of the artform, but your comment is still irrelevant, but whatever. Free country right?

@@pastense I like you Patense and I'm serious. I clear the air because we are on the same line but try to say different things. First of all I hate ''push button DJ's'' and I'm 44 years old. From the first ''scratch revolution (late 70's) till today I still regular follow the business. So we are on the same line and I was a bit ''hars'' with my comment on you. Sorry !! But what I'm try to say with my ''original comment'' is that these events are very ''sponsored'' by the industry. Both ''artists here'' I saw make better scratches and stuff in only a simple room with a 2 channel analogue mixer and two decks (SL's). That's all I try so say. And I still use vinyl and fuck all the ''push bottom DJ's''. I still like DJ Hype who won the contest in 1994 using just vinyl. And still does (ok with timecode but who cares). And still love Grandmaster Jay. It's Christmas brother and let there be peace. Cheers.
@grey95145 жыл бұрын
@@bestdnbmixes4275 "'Sponsored' by the industry"? As if that were some sort of blasphemy? Unless my eyes deceive me. Some of those time coded vinyl may be from the vintage of Ms. Pinky? Do you think that was some big buck sell out pedigree? If so, your idea of mainstream is beyond this humble flea. These days many DJs may be OK with Serato or RecordBox? Ms. Pinky was Max/MSP vintage R&D and would probably be better re-implemented today with Pd rather than fawning over old code branch locks. How big is this turntablist industry? When even Apple's included web browser Safari. Underlines the term with a red mark. As if it were not even a worthwhile portmanteau, just rotten tree bark. I think perhaps your "Best DNB mixes" day? Would be better empathizing with a dying culture and figuring out a more harmonious way.
