Derek, I remember that day very well and I was one of the first to subscribe to her new channel because of your content. I was also one of the first to help her financially along with other new subscribers but then saw a slight change in direction on her channel. I don't blame her at all but maybe her "advisers" around her. I have my own thoughts on what was happening but don't wish to go on about them here. I still watch and support Gel's channel only because of her and the huge heart she has. One day, she will do it alone and that's when I believe her channel will explode. I meant... before I even agreed to helping her start her channel, I established a set of rules for her parents (examples would be, money generated is for the kids school, content should be mainly about her community, etc). Once the channel was up and monetized, the opposite held true. The result of what you see currently

@@qadventures I'm not following Gel atm, I just gave a fast check and didn't pay much attention. I think that it's hard in the Philippine to make everything working as it should 'cause the main issue in that country it's the family that keep draining and draining money from the kids. The lack of money management and sex education generate an endless loop. I've seen what you are trying with the other girl (the one with the scars on her face, forgot her name sry) and I see how cautious you are. It's really complicated if parents don't change also. I really envy their deep connections between each other, but to me seems way too extreme 'cause it generates "slaves". I mean, girls even when they marry keep telling "family comes first", hell yeah it does but if you are married now it's your new family that should come first. But isn't always the case.

I've had the same concerns as well since she started her channel. It's beyond kreepy seeing gown axx men faithfully glued to her livestreams, commenting on her looks. I bet 8 out of 10 of them subscribed to her for the wrong reasons. I watched a couple of her livestreams for no more than a few minutes and the initial video or two. I was relieved seeing her dad next to her answering questions. I have a Ttok friend who had 5 foreigners track her down in Mindanao and show up at her house. A couple of them all drunk in the middle of the night. She never gave them her address. She was very upset. She is 19 but still...

The best I could tell, back a couple of months ago, is that her father pretty much took over the channel and she's the main character and new breadwinner. I don't think that he's going to let anyone get in the way of that. It's sad and disgusting on the part of these grown men to be fawning over her and having any comments at all. Why would these men have any interest at all in following the life of a 12 yr old girl? It's abnormal.

This is a touchy one for sure. What is better? A few possible internet stalkers with ulterior motives vs a succesful channel that is obviously uplifting to the girl both in confidence and monetarily? It is unfortunate that the adults in her life might not be following protocols for monetary reasons but it is a very different world over there and it is harsh to judge people who are living in extreme poverty for trying to improve the family life. If some of the followers are creeps there is not much that can be done about that because they are everywhere. Their donations while perhaps for the wrong reasons are still helping her and her family improve their lives. If the donations and views stopped would it be to her benefit or detriment? We from 1st world countries have to be very careful not to apply our standards to people in a 3rd world country who are in poverty just to ease our sense of uneasiness when we could cause Gel to fail. I hope that her parents really do understand that there might be peril in this situation but keep a close eye on any actual danger for her. I doubt that any creeps are going to wander into that neighborhood to track her down but they should be vigilant. Is it any different for 12 year old Gel to have a channel from a 12 year old in America? I don't see any difference. The creeps are the creeps and they do their creepy things regardless of borders. Overall her channel is a great benefit to her life so it is best not to ruin it for her based on our 1st world understanding of our version of morality. We can only hope that her family do have her best interests at heart. Just like we would hope for the children in our world.
