If you look closely at her throat while she is singing the muscles are engaged. I for one think this is a live performance and again, it is simply excellent breath control. One more thing, she is singing mainly in a very light mix/head voice, falsetto, so she doesn't really have the need to exert herself to really support those higher notes as you would see when a singer is belting. Although she does not have the same amount of breath control, you will notice that she is much more relaxed when singing in the falsetto (softer tone). Falsetto is often used as a vocal break for singers because it is meant to be light and takes the least amount of exertion to produce. Often people think that singers are lip syncing because they look so relaxed when singing in the the breathier tones of falsetto. I know it is kind of got off topic, but I thought that I would just add that. So again, to answer your question, it is a matter of excellent breath control.
