I think that one thing about BG that sometimes goes unnoticed is his voice. He has a natural radio voice. Deep and smooth.

I enjoy hearing him speak as equally as him playing guitar. An American treasure like Johnny Cash.

Billiy`s recollection of chilling with Prince was wonderful. Having to relearn your own solos seems so normal to me. You know, you get that vibe from the band, and everyone has freedom and does something none of you have done before.

I love Billy Gibbons deep in my soul. When I made enough money I bought a Les Paul beautiful guitar, a 300 watt tube amp and a 1/2 stack, 4 12 inch Marshall amp and I spent every available moment trying to sound like Billy. Without saying how many years ago that was I have followed and loved ZZ Top nearly all my life. He is a living Legend and 'I Thank You' for the impact of his talent and those glorious days of dreaming to play like Billy.

@@MinecraftAndIndie Yeah, I think I made an error, it was a 500 watt tube amp with 4/12's and it cost a lot. The story is true, the author is fallible. Thanks for correcting me. It was a beautiful sound.

@@theplayers3507 Thanks for the vote of confidence, I did get it wrong. Is your Stargazer a reference to Rainbow and Ronnie James Dio or simply enjoying the universe. Either works. A girl can dream about sounding like Billy, right?

@theplayers3507 4 жыл бұрын
@@stargazersally6544 Oh, a friend of mine had a farm I was caretaker on, and he and I liked to sky watch out there, it was a particularly good spot for stargazing. No reference to musicians. Ok, look, I'm going to tell you a secret, this can't get out- BFG IS actually a girl. Thats why the beards, you know, keeps that secret safe. So your gender is always held in high respect here. And if you can rip some (any) BFG riffs, individually you are too.

Billy stopped and parked his Bus right in the middle of South St. outside the TLA in Phila. before JImmie Vaughn's show there on his 1st tour. The bus was filled with these tall legged beauties. I did the wind mill and point movement the Top do together and he got a big laugh out of that. Needless to say Jimmie's show with the Tilt-a Whirl band was phenomenal that night. Great memory from 93? Time flies.

I went to a fan club thing to meet Steve Perry in 1995. A woman from Texas told me these guys hang out together irl and when she got to the door, they did the "go ahead" thing from the videos. lol. @hylianmarc4745
@hylianmarc4745 Жыл бұрын
From the release of appetite in 1987 until the release of this interview 2018 that's 31 years. Sorum joined in 1991 and left in 1997, so that would still be considered "early" considering that would leave a swing of 21 years of him leaving guns and this interview.

I agree. They used the same style of production/mastering on the Mescalero album and I liked it. For this new album I thought a "cleaner" presentation/tone would have served the music better. I saw Billy's band at the Iridium on Halloween and they were great, Matt Sorum was the big surprise for me...fantastic drummer!!! Elwood's amplified harmonica was also amazing. Try to see them if you get the chance. Bolin Guitars in Idaho are the makers of Billy's guitars btw.
