Well said. I have been married for over 30 years. It is important that we refrain from using either word because they both establish wrong expectations. It is important to note that each marrital team is different therefore what is necessary to maintain each one is different. Keep in mind that what you saw in your parents and those whom you respect may not work nor maintain balance in your home. I too would like to see a follow-up conversation with this set of creatives on the flip side (once they have been married for a time) in order to see what their perspectives are at that time. This was really good.

That was my very thought...I feel bad for our youth today, they have the freedom to make choices that the older generation didn’t have, but are they happy? I see so much confusion, as they keep moving the goal post! We see some of the side effects already.. The family is in big trouble as culture/ society pull them away from what our Manual instructed and teaches us... very sad for me to see Africa adopting what’s going on in the West! 💕🙏🏼

This was fun but I support the ladies 99%. In my opinion, in relationships when it come with building a peaceful and humble home everything should be 50/50. In most of the advanced countries, there is nothing like this is your responsibility so even if you are not available you must come and accomplish it. Bravo! this topic was on point and a great example of Cultural behaviors and gender roles. The question of Duty vs Responsibility was a great point to define. As a westerner listening( U.S.A) It seemed that the lovely Men can came form a biblical definition of the a woman and man's role where the Women are to be submissive and home makers and the Men is the bread winner. the beautiful women while recognizing the religious and Biblical context of the gender role, they also recognized the changing world that has crumbled the gender roles as they use to be. The world is evolving and opportunities are leveling the playing field on what woman and men can and will do. specific gender roles and becoming blurred each and every day. Currently the only thing a woman only can do is bear children. there was some very valid and interesting thoughts from both side. but I think you all would have done well to set a talk time keeper so that everyone could speak respectively without being interrupted until their time ended. "like 2 minutes each" Hope you guys do more of this and be able to learn from each other in the process. Blessing!!!

Cooking and cleaning, in general house hold chores are basic things. But society have made it as a woman responsibility something like mandatory to do. In marriage, it's about team work, sharing responsibility that's;both the wife and the husband can provide for the family, even if both of you are working, you the husband shouldn't see your wife as a maid. She can cook, you can cook that's the beauty of marriage. As a husband your duty is to protect your wife and kids and your responsibility is to put food on the table. As a wife, your duty is to take care of the kids and the house, your responsibility is to make the house peaceful. NB: duty and responsibility ain't the same.

When you make it look like a responsibility, that’s when it’s wrong. Duties can be shared. If I’m up to cook I cook, if I’m available to take care of the kids, why not. It’s the woman’s responsibility to take care of the home but don’t make it look like a tag or WOMENS THING. Marriage is more of a tag team.

A marriage is commitment, compromise, sometimes even sacrifice, and communication. It's teamwork, because children look up to both parents for morals, discipline, ethics, virtues, etc. If both parents work both take care of the children and the house. If the mother is a housewife, she does majority of the work. The guys are a bit stuck in the ways of their forefathers. These young women are very smart. I love that for them!
