You remember that Britain had colonies, so you could leave Britain go to New Zealand, Australia or Canada and the culture, humour isn’t that different. We all have the Queen as our monarch. But less terrorism.

You still have the Commonwealth, with are colonies in almost every aspect except by name. Your Queen is still head of state in all of them and you have your own socioeconomic treaties, as well as educational exchange programs and the TV is quite similar. Basically wouldn't be much different, and Canada being on more or less the same latitude has similar weather, lots of rain and overcast.

The Queen still has power, the Royal Family as a whole have just agreed not to exercise that power without approvial from parliament. for example the Queen is still head of (and thus can issue orders to) the armed forces, has the power to form or disolve parliament, to veto any proposed laws, cannot be arrested for or charged with any crime in the UK and is the head of the crimanal justice system. the monarch has many other powers, but most of them have not been exercised in centuries.

@@Talking_Ed It's an insulting tax. It's like a kid being forced to thank his parents for yelling at him. The whole 'television license' thing never made much sense to me. As an American, I know how to get rid of this unjust tax. The next time a ship arrives at port with a load of televisions, disguise yourselves as natives and dump the entire load of televisions into the harbor. Within a few short years you will have a whole new government and slightly less tax, your welcome.

@charlesb1602

I think the answer changes depending on one's age. When you are young, a million dollars seems like a ticket to a good life forever. However, once you get older and acquire a stable income, home, and family you realize that a million dollars would not change your life all that much. Thus, if I was asked to completely uproot my life and move somewhere else to start again for just a million dollars I dont think I would do it either. I see where Lindy is coming from.

Subbbed to Lindybeige a few months ago, watched some of his videos, then stopped. I have no idea why. Lindy is incredibly down to earth and that's what I appreciate in a content creator more than anything else (besides content and its quality). He's funny and his videos cover topics that most other channels don't. Does he every do any comment based Q&A videos? Is he married (or has he ever been/wanted to be)? What does an average day look like for him? Where does he get his video ideas and how long does he research the topic before recording? Keep making great content!

Expect to hear a lot of "I'm Irish too!" if you do ever end up here. We Americans, at least in my area, tend to say that we are what our ancestors were since it's exceedingly rare to see anyone who wasn't born here.

Speaking as a Kiwi who's paid a long visit to Engand, New Zealand doesn't hold a candle to the Britishness I saw there. I'd also raise Hell if I found I could never visit the Peak District again. :)

I do find it hilarious that 52% of Brits spent the last while shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly because of fears of "non-EU migrants", while a significant chunk of the other 48% will soon be non-EU migrants into Ireland... :D

I Have a request Loyd. I love these videos and also love your old ones on Arms and Armor. I do dearly miss some of your old chats 8 years ago about arms and armor and would like suggest a topic and a request to mix in some classic armor and antiquities chats amongst these amazing questions videos. You posted a video on sword pommels, but I would love for you to make a video on handle materials/types/advantages. ei. bone, antler, metal, wood, leather wrapped, which areas preferred which type and of course, what your favorite style of handle is. Thanks.
