Prison guards are, hands down, the most indoctrinated, repressed, small minded, cruel, rule-following goons on the face of the earth. I'd rather live with criminals any day of the week than prison guards.

Prison guards are the worst human beings on the planet. No profession draws as many truly rotten people as corrections. Prison guards are depraved humans who will inflict any horror on their fellow man for that paltry 35k salary. You pretty much have to already be scum to even consider a job in corrections.

These talks you do with lads like this should be shown in schools, I think it would have a very positive affect, and make allot thinking of doing a crime think again. Where I come from allot of young lads see these places as a badge of honour. Until faced with the reality of it first hand that is, but they don't tell the young ones growing up what it's actually like, no one wants to look weak. You should contact a couple of schools and show the governor's test it out, after all the worst they can say is no. You might just save a lot of youngsters and there families a lifetime of sorrow.

@Alibi Trafalgar yes in some cases you are probably right, but I have lived in some very rough areas and i've personally know a lot of young people, some more easily led than others, who have followed the wrong people and turned out bad and ended up in these places also. Likewise i've known some little arseholes who truly deserve to be in these places. I grew up with some, who have now have spent most of there adult life in and out of prison. What I put was just an idea, it won't stop all, or even injustices of the judicial system, but the ones in the middle, if it helps just a few I think it might be worth it. But all this is just my personal thoughts on the subject.

The behaviour of these prison guards is disgusting. If I were a guard, I would think about the rehabilitation side of it. Treat all other humans how you would be expected to be treated yourself. How is torturing prisoners going to improve their behaviour for release from prison. This has really made me think different towards these public service personnel. They should all be given the sack and replaced with more competent staff.

@Doug Miles - I'm sure that many of these criminals have got a terrible past but treating them like this is unacceptable. I never really thought about prison life until I found Shaun's KZbin page last week. It opened my eyes a bit. There should be someone watching teh guards behaviour at all times to make sure they are doing their job properly. I'm sure if prisoners were treated with a little respect, they wouldn't re-offend so quickly after release .

Obviously this man is too young to recall back in the 90s 1993 through 19 9960 minutes was at Pelican Bay prison practically every day filming the gladiator fights that were set up by the guards filmed and betted on. They also investigated over 700 suicides in a two-yearperiod at the prison and found that they were given overdoses of Haldol which swells your neck and a suicide note was sent home. A judge Brown ruled on mental health services being mandatory in prisons but California never really was in compliance with his ruling.

Prison is not about reform. It's an industry. Most prisons in America are becoming privatized, which means making money to pay the shareholders. I'd assume most other countries are somewhat similar. There's no money in reform, only in constant incarceration. The idiotic laws here contribute to that. Like dude said up there, "it's a game to them".
@johnnewton2949

The punishment for a crime that carries a sentence of imprisonment is loss of liberty, not torture and death. That is in the statutes of the UK, a supposedly civilised nation. I hear a lot of people in this country saying they're ok with what happens to people in prison, that they're getting what they deserve, in fact that they're getting off lightly and that they should bring back the death penalty. I can only hope that these people represent a small minority of the population, because they must be of limited intellect with no imagination or at worse psychopaths with no ability to empathise with other human beings. Imagine yourself being locked in a small room for two days, having no control over when you eat or what you eat; no control over when you can shower; no control over when you sleep: no control over when you have to get up; no control over when you can get out of that room to get fresh air and exercise; having no control over what you can read or watch or otherwise entertain yourself and having no control over when you can see your family or friends. Now extend those two days to weeks, months, years, decades or a lifetime. For me that's punishment enough.

@@thepoliticalfederationofeq1216 Thank you for that, it was important and everybody in this country should be aware of it. I'm torn between tears of empathy for that young man and tears of rage against the system that lets this happen time and time again. I've written to my MP, Emily Thornberry about it, but she's just another shit politician. I don't expect a reply any time soon. I can only hope that curiosity gets the better of her and she watches it and I can only hope that it disturbs her as much as it has disturbed me. I doubt it though. Just another shit politician in a shit system.

Yes betting is big part of the jail system. Forget any real medical care. I nursed in one, was a false prisioner many times, and I have a degree in Penology. The study of the history of prisions to present. Those that ever had a loved one in jail knows the evils there and all prisioners are treated badly everywhere. I am experienced in the deep South Louisiana jails. Worst in the world. Only God really knows of all the evils on the other side of the doors. Never push the alarm bell and never cry in jail.

@Doug Miles I wonder if the guards who choose to perform criminal acts themselves prey on those who aren't violent offenders.I think they'd be less likely to mess with the hardened gang prisoners since they definitely have resources for payback.If so those are the actions of a punk,schoolyard bully & we all know what they really are...scared little kids inside with low esteem power issues.Just a common sense guess.You seem to fit in with that group.I wonder how many prisoners you messed up with the wrong meds or treatment,just saying this since you're obviously big time on board with their pathetic games.

@@thepoliticalfederationofeq1216 Violence has that effect. It just gets worse and worse. I imagine it becomes like a P.T.S.D. thing then. Some good friends did help me though. You have achieved such a lot of amazing thing. That is admirable. Well done! Knowledge is so powerful. As for the haters, they really are weird. The point I'm trying to make is that everyone gets these haters and their comments mean nothing. with all the $ spent on locking human beings up I always wondered why they pay C.O. shit. Its probably done for a reason. Low pay keeps the best applicants away because only less desirable applicants pursue these types of jobs. many times anti social personnel desire these pisitions because they can get paid for being sadistic and not get in trouble with the law. Prison is a scam. When will somebody speak out. Its the 2nd largest industry in America behind the Dept of Defense. $ is power and convicts are thought of as less then human. The TRUE criminals are the ones profiting from licking up all these parents with psychological problems with violent C.O.s and sick psycho predators who actually belong there. they force non violent people who made a bad choice into adapting in order to survive. Prison system is a scam. I was luckily never locked up, but I feel for humans. wtf!! this is a crisis.

@Doug Miles Yes of course they do the time,that doesn't include being fodder for sadistic guards.What the hell is wrong with you.You're quite wrong,I have known others who've spent a good deal of time in prison in the past & have been a visitor also.I saw how SOME guards acted like assholes even to the visitors as if we were scum,looking down on us.However the mature adult minded guards actually would thank us for going out of our way to show support those we went to visit.Those guards were intelligent, didn't want those who when released to go back in.A young man or woman can get or used to SERVE YEARS of time for a marijuana charge.That shouldn't give some neanderthal guard permission to literally "fuck them up,gang rape them or worse" so that they end up " emotionally broken upon release & can't function in society.I wonder if that Mother who's Daughter was a guard became a different person because of what she witnessed other guards do to vunerable prisoners or maybe was forced to partake in their cruelty.I'm sure that was at least part of the reason.

It can be as he describes but rarely or only if you come across as weak. I was in young offenders at the same time period and only had trouble once out of 7 jail sentences so I call b.s to be honest or like I say, he was bullied

Yes, it is, prisons should be rehabilitation facilities, not for the psychotic pleasures of the prison keepers.

Sorry but I call b.s as uk prisons didn't have tv in 99!!! When this supposed to of happened. Also I was in young offenders at the same time period, brinsford just outside Wolverhampton, stockheath, Parva ext ext and yes it was violent at times but not to the extent he claims, heck he was bullied if it did happen as much as he claims.. which I hate bullies so don't agree with it but it wasn't all that bad
