It's actually pronounced key-loyd. I used to have a huge one behind my ear (it got so big it made my ear stick out like an elephant ear and I couldn't wear earring in that ear). I had it surgically removed and it never grew back. The surgery and recovery were both quick, didn't hurt and didn't slow me down at all (no work time missed).

If anyone is struggling with their Keloid scar and the steroid injections and surgery don't help I suggest using silicone patches for scars. They help to reduce the scar appearance, size and the discomfort. I use the cica care silicone scar sheet for reference. I also use paper tape over it to secure it in place, because I have keloids on my back and shoulder where my bra strap is and there's a lot of movement. I use nexcare micropore gentle paper tape (25.4mm x 9.14m). If you have a piercing bump or starting to develop One, there is a silicon disc your piercer can put between your ear and piercing and it helps with healing and flattening the bump. Ask your piercer if they have a silicone disc or something similar (in a piercing parlour here in Australia I visit often, they use the "NoPull silicon discs"). Good luck to all and take care!

if you get a keloid they start out small so you should be able to prevent them before they get that bad 😬 just use noniodized salt and distilled water and soak your ear two times a day. u can also use a tiny bit of tea tree oil if it’s not an open wound!
