Number disagree completely with his Bo Nix take. Compared to the other 5 top QBs in this draft Nix was second in attempts on intermediate throws (10-19 yards) and first in yards - 62/91 with 1169 Yards, 16 TDs to 1 INT. Also had the highest completion percentage & adjusted completion percentage. He does rank second to last in Deep passing attempts, but only trails Jayden Daniels by 4 attempts. He has 142 attempts of 10+ yards, which ranks 3rd amongst the other 5 top QBs, trailing Penix and Maye. While he did have the most pass attempts behind the line of scrimmage, there still was plenty of tape showcasing his ability to make throws beyond the sticks, and according to PFF's grading system he was highest graded thrower from 10-19 yards compare to the other top QBs. Here is his depth splits compared to Justin Herbert in 2018 and another overlooked prospect Brock Purdy in 2021: JH Behind LOS: 65/71, 611 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT, 0 Big Time Throws, 1 Turnover Worthy Plays (69.8 PFF Grade) 0-9 Yards: 108/152, 892 yards, 6 TD, 1 INT, 0 BTT, 4 TWP (68.7 PFF Grade) 10-19 Yards: 40/82, 702 yards, 6TD, 5 INT, 2 BTT, 6 TWP (73.0 PFF Grade) 20+ Yards: 28/77, 942 yards, 13 TD, 2 INT, 27 BTT, 4 TWP (93.4 PFF Grade) 10+ Yards: 68/159, 1644 yards, 19 TD, 7 INT, 29 BTT, 10 TWP BN Behind LOS: 126/131, 903 yards, 8 TD, 0 INT, 0 BTT, 0 TWP (77.5 PFF Grade) 0-9 Yards: 147/181, 1383 yards, 8 TD, 0 INT, 0 BTT, 1 TWP (76.9 PFF Grade) 10-19 Yards: 62/91, 1169 yards, 16TD, 1 INT, 3 BTT, 1 TWP (94.7 PFF Grade) 20+ Yards: 26/51, 999 yards, 13 TD, 2 INT, 17 BTT, 3 TWP (95.5 PFF Grade) 10+ Yards: 88/142, 2168 yards, 29 TD, 3 INT, 20 BTT, 4 TWP BP Behind LOS: 72/76, 411 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 0 BTT, 0 TWP (73.4 PFF Grade) 0-9 Yards: 144/175, 1230 yards, 3 TD, 5 INT, 0 BTT, 4 TWP (68.8 PFF Grade) 10-19 Yards: 61/93, 1092 yards, 11 TD, 1 INT, 4 BTT, 1 TWP (92.3 PFF Grade) 20+ Yards: 15/37, 467 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT, 7 BTT, 3 TWP (83.1 PFF Grade) 10+ Yards: 76/130, 1559 yards, 14 TD, 3 INT, 11 BTT, 4 TWP Bo Nix also had a considerable lead in PFF passing grade while under pressure. The problem with rankings pre draft is that you can only evaluate on talent, mechanics, and off field things you hear. Once the draft occurs, those pre draft ranking should be tossed out because there are so many factors that go in to determining failure/success and there is no way that you can predict those (coaching changes, personal life issue that pops up,...etc. It sucks, that you guys are going to be held to that pre draft rank.

Maye is so massively far ahead of where Daniels was at the same age and number of starts, just feels weird this is never brought up by all these guys. It's not like he had talent around him. Daniels after the same amount of starts had like 35 fewer touchdowns and 2600 less yards with fewer rushing yards and rushing TD too. Like it's not remotely close. Imagine Maye with 24 more games, 2 years of maturity, and an all time great WR room and what his production would look like....teams aren't drafting for who is the best on Sept 1 2024.

Genuinely starting to feel that the Vikings will only trade up for Maye. They may consider McCarthy if available at #11, but I think KOC likes the natural nature for deep accuracy of Penix Jr. and believes he can coach his apparent struggles over the middle. I’m sure the Vikings would love to get Maye, but if not they hope the Raiders jump over them to get McCarthy. The Vikings can then perhaps slide back a few spots from #11 to add value to selecting Penix Jr. and they can then hopefully get IDL help at #23.

Insanely risky. Not enough people are talking about the Vikings being in a rough spot. They have basically admitted that they like Daniels, Maye & JJ enough to take them. Because they’re not getting above 4th.

I’m glad JT said it, bc it matters more then any of the “traits” is where you go. All these elite Qbs have great minds at OC, when they say they missed on Herbert and Allen. Look at their best years, Herbert with Steichen, Allen with Daboll, both coaches now. Mac jones is the walking example of this, you gave him McDaniels and he looked decent, took that away and gave him dcoordinators and we wonder why he failed. We never have to wonder about Mahomes bc Reid ain’t going nowhere. I’m a Washington fan, am I too think if a guy like Purdy came here, he still be Purdy ?? With Scott Turner calling plays ? Like when do we acknowledge it has a lot more to do with who’s calling the plays, especially in those early year then the traits. Same way baker has been able to come on with great coaching, Jalen hurts don’t look the same without Steichen

@@JoDonn Ah. Okay this'll be long, but it's within what you just said. We The Fans want owners to have winning as a priority. Here's the problems: NFL team owners are _business owners_ who don't know what makes a good or winning coach. You know what team owners do when forced to deal with things they don't fully understand? The same thing all humans do under those circumstances: pretend that they do or mentally shift things around to things they do. The reason Bisacchia got shoved out for Josh McD wasn't because he was a Good Coach: Davis doesn't know how to assess coaches or players. So he regards players as employees & coaches as that stratosphere of elevated employees who side with ownership, supervisors. Owners seek *tyrannical* supervisors. This is why player-friendly coaches are WAY more common in college. They have to get results to keep their job. In the NFL you have to appear like someone who suppresses the employees so player-friendly coaches actually are perceived as "wrong" to them. Good coaches are only hired by accident by NFL team owners. How many examples do you want? Mike McCarthy is the current most obvious example. His play-calling turns to sewage _EVERY time_ he gets stressed. Not sometimes. Jerry Jones doesn't care. "He makes the players enact His Schemes even the bad ones? He's a _BOSS!!"_ is all Jerry is gonna see. Sorry. It's not a pleasant truth. But look around. How many really good coaches are there in the NFL, how many in college? Almost every college coach wants to earn more $ in the NFL & would take the jobs. But NFL team owners don't have a clue what makes a good, winning coach. So they go for the inept tyrant by default.

I believe Mahomes threw 14 INT's this season in 16 games, and Williams threw 5 INT's in 12 games. Why is it Sam thinks Mahomes had the perfect season, and Williams made so many "big mistakes" this season? If you want to criticize Williams' sack or fumbles, that seems legitimate, he probably needs to improve there. I'm not sure Chicago's offensive line is big upgrade over USC's, so those issue may persist if he doesn't do something different.

Chicago's line is better than most give it credit for. There were injuries, however all one has to do is compare the games Bagent played vs Fields. Ball came out quickly and decisively and oh wow, what do you know the line looked a million times more effective. As alluded to Fields would hold the ball in excess and follow up with poor decisions. He could occasionally make spectacular play to elude rushers, but if he had gotten the ball out quickly and decisively he wouldn't have had to.
@tonyk7387
@tonyk7387 Ай бұрын
You are correct. You aren't sure. Bc their line is way better than USC relative to the NFL. Educate yourself a bit more, man. The Bears o-line is actually solid. Justin Fields just made them look so much worse then they actually are. When Justin was injured and Tyson bagent played, he had one of the lowest sack rates in the league. Justin is just historically bad at taking sacks. And Caleb holding the ball is not the same thing. Hes able to maneuver in the pocket to keep the play alive looking for the big play bc the defense was so bad that the pressure to score points on every drive. Justin quite literally didn't see open receivers, even when they were in the lane he was looking at, which makes you think that he simply couldn't pull the trigger bc of something mentally. The bears offense will improve massively this year. Many don't wanna admit it but Justin was not a good QB. His lack of timing and rhythm stalled so many drives.

Hey Sam, Caleb threw 5 interceptions all year. And 3 were against Notre Dame. Yes, there were some fumbles, but you pushing a false narrative. J.T. essentially said that, but nicely 😅
@555calex
@555calex Ай бұрын
A problem with the hit rate at quarterbacks coming into the league is not that their bad players but the team drafting don't have the support staff to develop them. For example: Jets, Raiders, Bears, Browns are the most famous that I can think of at the moment. I guess we might add the Panthers but this is about not having a good offensive team/scheme and also just trading away their #1 receiver to the Bears the same year of getting a young qb.
