I found QCSB By accident,and through your videos,i have made enquiries about attending a friends meeting in the UK,i have been sent a lot of reading about Quakers &meetings,and i think it is for me,i have attended church groups since 13 years old irregularly. But through watching the videos,i have been guided to find out and learn more,and to be an attendee at my 1st meeting. Thank You

Thanks for watching Steve. Just a clarification. Quaker City is the name of the band. We're based in Philadelphia and Quaker City is one of the nicknames of the city as it was founded by William Penn who was a Quaker. We're not a religious organization or have any affiliations with Quakers outside of our name.

Wer macht den Bands die ständig neuen Kostüme? Die Jungs und Mädels haben doch Jobs und die Kostüme selber nähen ist doch eine Wahnsinnsarbeit die ewig dauert. Eine interessante Bandzusammensetzung die ich durch Zufall hier entdeckt habe. Aber ich bin begeistert. Vor allem da ich selber Saxophon und Klarinette spiele. Schade das es sowas nicht in Deutschland gibt. Live werde ich wohl nicht erleben da Philadelphia für mich recht weit ist.

Why the whistle?

Hi Linda. Thanks for watching and asking. When we're parading we play street songs to entertain the crowd. The whistle let's us know that we're going to end the song. Most of our songs have 2 endings. The first ending allows us to go back to the top and repeat the song. The second ending is what we would play after the whistle to end that song.

Any band can, but it's usually the bands that have their clubs there. Currently there are 5 bands that are based on two street. Hegeman, Avalon, Fralinger, Quaker City and Woodland.
