Hey qdc, I really like your videos. Content-wise they're pretty good, and I tend to use them as reference for which kit I'd like to buy next. The most amusing thing though is that you never seem to blink and the cut lingers just a bit too long when you say "take a look!" Unintentional, I'm sure but funny nonetheless. Regardless I'm impressed by your modelling skills and I'm looking forward to your completed diorama. The tugboat diorama was great!

QDC: Your skills are extraordinary! I'm currently building the Revell H-13-H as a civilian Bell 47G (in honor of the Whirlybirds TV Show from the 1950's) as a flyable R/C model. I am using an mcpX as the R/C part. I've done a lot of mods and fabrication to enable removing the mcpX for future maintenance. I have not built a model in over 55 years and it's a struggle, but it's really coming along! I'm getting to the point where I need to do the fine, post fab detail painting. I am wondering if you have any close-up videos where you demonstrate how you paint faces of figures. Also, since I don't even have baseline skills, are there any texts you could recommend to help me get a rudimentary understanding of the art form? I can see doing a lot more modeling now and don't want to drive you crazy with a million questions! Thanks and keep up the beautiful work!

Hey qdc! Great work as always. Enjoying following the build and looking forward to seeing the completed diorama. I know it will be amazing! Quick question: in the first part of the video, what do you use to hold your figures while building them? Is it a pepper shaker, bottle cap? Also what do you use to stick them down? I like your painting technique! Thanks and good luck!

Hey Q, I have a suggestion to make about painting flesh. Try adding slight variation to your paint between each soldier using brown, pink, orange, colours of the like. That way everyone has their own unique complexion, adding to the depth of the dio.

Well that is a neat way of painting a lot of figures. I also agree with you that when placed in the LCVP that you will only see just so much of the figure. I have put a considerable amount of time in superdetailing only to close up the the model never to see it again! Live and learn I guess. Anyway looking forward to the next installment on this build!

Is Part 7 done already? Hehehe... Hi, Maestro. Your Beantown Buddy, Lou, here. Nice job on the figures. To me, what makes your work so unique and cool is the combination of your skills, resources usage and dedication to this hobby. Picasso, Rembrandt, van Gogh used canvas, paint and light to paramount their work. Well, you use styrene, resin, glue, putty, tile grout, washes and so on to paramount yours and the results speak for themselves. Simply awesome! Well done! Thanks for sharing. And I hope your cat is ok. Wait a minute... did you say Part 7 is gonna be ready tomorrow? Hehehe... Take care, Maestro. Your Buddy Lou. Peace.

+qdc748a Welcome! My pleasure. I appreciate the reply, Maestro. Thanks. I know you are busy. Skills and techniques can be taught and learned but talent? Not a chance! No way! You, Sir, can turn styrene into pieces of art. Besides having skills, technique and talent, you also have great dedication to this hobby and this combination only yields good results. So, you are an artist after all. My hello to your cat. Hope he is ok. By the way: are you familiar with "Mach 2 Models? They make some unusual subjects but I know nothing about the quality of their kits. Thanks for your help. Have a great weekend. From Beantown, your Friend Lou.

+Vesardi247 You are welcome. If you want to start building model kits again, I suggest buying a fairly easy kit to build first. Tamiya makes good, fairly easy, kits that has a high level of detail. If you really enjoy it, you can easily buy more expensive kits with all the accessories latter.
@vesardi24799 жыл бұрын
qdc748a Yeah, that's what I figured out. those Revell's 1 :72 models that I've worked with until now are too small for person like me who is all thumbs :D. The other problem was that the closest shop (that I'm currently aware) that sells Tamiya products is +70 km away but now that I got my driver's licence, I'll be taking a visit there soon.

@mr.hellcat43469 жыл бұрын
I understand that it's a lot of work but if your'e going to build a nother big diorama like battle of the bulge it would be easyer on tanks becouse smaller size tanks dont need that much detail and for tank models i use a hot needle to make bullet hit marks and anty tank gun hits on the hull and turret

Good work. I am surprised that Italeri has these good/acceptable figures, And all of them fairly different postures. The colours and washes work out fine. Maybe you can change the buff colour on the puttees, backpack, and a jacket of three of the 17 soldiers, to give some diversity (on the other hand, logic dictates that all soldiers of the same group are issued the same jackets and gear and in training it wears at the same rate...). But with a full pack of troops inside the LCVP, who is running in front of the LCVP ? I am curious to see the scene set-up (80% in, 20 % outside ?)..
@qdc748a9 жыл бұрын
+ODDBALL SOK Thanks. That's good advice. I don't think I'm going to repaint them but I keep your advice for a next project. The plan is the that the figures are at the back the boat and the front gets lots of space with some of the figures from Masterbox models running out. I plan to do mock up soon. I might make a video of that for viewers to see.
