This match is miles better compared to the lob party between Fukuman/Yonao vs Polii/Maheswari because despite longer, that match was not played as aggressive as this one. Here, the Japanese had to defend themselves from the barrage brought by the Chinese pair. Rock solid defense from both sides and sharp offense too.

A super intensive game !! Both pair performed marvellously, that’s the spirit.

Brilliant match! Both teams deserved to win; worthy of a final given the quality of the rallies, although I wish there had been less time wasting in some bits, given there were genuine issues with injuries during the game. Great commentary too on the different tactics. I sympathise with Takahashi and Matsumoto - maybe they'll pull a LinDan and play for the fans, and we'll see them at the next WC.

This was certainly Takahashi and Matsutomo's last World Championships appearance, it's a pity they lost in the end of this incredible match. And with other Japanese pairs still alive in the tournament, they're going to fall behind in the Race to Tokyo rankings...I'm so disappointed for them

Why was it the last world championship for them?
@feainnweddb91925 жыл бұрын
@@huuxuan3074 Takahashi is already 29, and their main motivation now is to defend their olympic title in Tokyo next year. Whether they do or not we will see, but after the Olympics they will probably retire, it's highly unlikely Takahashi will have the motivation to keep going
@huuxuan30745 жыл бұрын
@@feainnweddb9192 i dont think this was their last world championship. 2 years later maybe long but enough for them to realize they are not young anymore so they need to change the strategy to catch up with the younger players. Age is just a number, the important thing is you have enough motivation to continue the journey. Look at Roger Federer and Williams sisters
@feainnweddb91925 жыл бұрын
@@huuxuan3074 I would like to believe they will keep playing even after the olympics, but more than a matter of age I think it all really comes down to motivation. Now they have a goal that keeps them moving forward, but once Tokyo 2020 will be over, I'm not sure they will set themselves a new goal. Takahashi already considered retiring just after the 2016 Rio Olympics before she found a renewed motivation
@trantubich19575 жыл бұрын
@@huuxuan3074 Badminton is not like tennis. If you want to compare, you have to mention Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei. Roger is the single player, Takahashi is double women. In the single, the technique is still nonetheless crucial. And in double, agility and strength are the main. Besides she is a main attacker and cover Misaki, who specializes in net play. Age in the main problem. Anh Misaki là a women player I like so much.

@torchictwentyone4 жыл бұрын
The umpire called a let because the Japanese coach was shouting/talking as they were playing. Coaches can only give advice when the shuttle is not in play. The laws of badminton state that a let is called if the coach distracts the player(s) so I guess we just have to accept that this was what the umpire decided at that moment. The umpire is not completely wrong though, it is definitely a misconduct for the coach to be shouting instructions/hints as the players are playing
