QGIS Python (PyQGIS) - Clip Vector Layers

Clip vector layers using a python script. This QGIS Python tutorial demonstrates how the PyQGIS API can be used to automate clipping of vector layers with Python. We use the Clip function in the QGIS Processing Toolbox to clip a line layer with a polygon layer.

I tried this as standalone script, but I cannot import processing. it turned error : qgis._gui cannot import type '����' from PyQt5.QtCore I have been googling this trouble and mostly suggest that because PyQt5 is installed trough pip (which I did) but still cannot figure it out how to fix this problem Do you have or know a straight-forward instruction how to set up for standalone script properly? many thanks

Hello! Really enjoying your videos. Question in relation to this geoprocessing action. Is there a reason why you are choosing to work with just shapefiles vs layers within a geopackage? Would this significantly alter this process?

Geopackages weren't commonplace when I started with GIS and I haven't fully adopted them yet. You should be able to use them without many changes.

@@geospatialschool Appreciate the response! I tried just substituting the file paths but I am going to guess it requires an additional function to pull them out. I'll letcha know what I find out!

Are you doing a clip or intersection? This video is about clipping.
