This is finally starting to make sense. How do you do the extents if you want them exact?

What version of QGIS is this? I don't see the Enable Atlas button or the page browsing buttons in the menu. I'm running QGIS 3.10 A Coruna.

Thanks Klas, when you posted it, this video made me understand many things that I still didn't know about Atlas. Lately, however, I hear about a new instrument (more powefull??) in many ways similar to Atlas, namely "Report". however, I do not understand well the differences between the two. Have you already mentioned it in one of your very useful tutorials?
@KlasKarlsson4 жыл бұрын
I don't use reports that much. It is a bit more complex to use, but I see it as a "collection" of layouts and/or atlases. Since a layout can be more than just maps, reports can become more comprehensive multi page documents i.e. reports...
@danielerinaldi31234 жыл бұрын
@@KlasKarlsson thanks for the indication. I'll try to do some simple tests, ... but I don't want to complicate my life. I am so comfortable with atlas

@@danielerinaldi3123 And the Report part still has a couple of annoying problems. Not really bugs, but annoying things like not being able to name your report sections...

@Klaskarlsson Coming back to this comment in 2023, has QGIS improved the functionality and usability of its report feature? I’m still happy using layouts and atlas for my maps. But I can see the useful ness in reports for automating inspection tables and inserting georeferenced images.

Thank you very much! It can save me a lot of time! I'm curious about one thing. Is it possible to only the chosen layer thematic? What I mean for example: I have statistics for the NUTS3 regions, and I make thematic map from that for entire Europe. Is it possible in the Atlas to only show the current country's data/thematic, and the neighbor countries only have a simple white fill? Thank you for your answer in advance!
@KlasKarlsson6 жыл бұрын
Yes! You can use the @atlas_pagename variable to create for instance data defined overrides for a categorized style where a style category is selected with an expression like -> "CountryName" = @atlas_pagename As long as you have defined the "CountryName" as atlas page name in the Atlas settings. Use inverted styling or the ELSE category to create the effect you want.
@KlasKarlsson6 жыл бұрын
When I said "categorized" I meant "Rule-Based"! Just create one rule like above. Use "=" or "" for desired effect. In combination with inverted polygons as an option you can achieve what you want.
@Szaboy2006 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Worked perfectly! I had to make some creative changes with the layer order to include seas as well, because of inverted polygons. :) Have a nice day!

Hey Klaus, thanks for uploading. I'm curious as to what that calculator tool is that you use around 11:10 in the video.

It's the standard Gnome-Calculator, used in "keyboard mode".

Klas, I am curious if there is a way to extract layers from a flat map that alread has contours. I downloaded it from the USGS. I want to creat a file for illustrator and eventually laser cut out the contours. Is there a way to create contour layers from the geotiff file?
@KlasKarlsson6 жыл бұрын
Sorry, no! You may get close with photo editing software like Gimp and then tracing the isolated contour lines to vectors with software like Inkscape. The best way is to get contour lines from another source, or create them from elevation raster data using QGIS.

Sir can you create an Atlas map that reduces the opacity of the inactive features only the active feature would be in a 100% opacity?
@KlasKarlsson2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. Define your atlas and then you can use @atlas... variables in expressions for the opacity of selected layers.

Layout and "Canvas" is two separate windows that you can switch between with Alt + Tab, just like you would any other two windows.
