Amusement: You reminded me that just today I quoted Aaron Levinson in a completely different context: "Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is interesting, but what they conceal is vital!"

tips: export option use the option where it's say export text as select object now ur text in inkscape is text box instead of individual letters, also select one and ur the select all similar in a group to select all the same fonts and change them inkscape is powerful but hard to learn as in all open sources software they do the trick very well but the learning curve and UI sucks 😅 another tip in pdf export u can have groups and u can use select all in layers and ctrl g to ungroup or export as svg where they all come grouped by similar functionality u can create a lot of nice maps just by exporting a basic one from qgis and styling in ink

Hi Klas Karlsson, thank you so much for this video. Klass, how if we want to recolour a 1st dtm data refers to 2nd dtm data? We will show the area of 1st DTM that below and above the 2nd DTM. Thank you Klas.

Great video, as usual! Love the idea of setting up the map elements off canvas. Allows you to prioritize and think about white space. I often find myself trying to squeeze too much into a map. I'll use this method to help me with composition in the future. I look forward to the next vid.

A really good video and a nice layout! I used one of your layouts from the github repository and it was just right for the job I was doing. When I make a layout that is worth uploading, I will be sure to do so. Thank you!

I've been working with QGIS for some time now, and this really helped level up the esthetics of my maps

Great work. Could you e plains in a future video how to precise tweak map labels in layout? I’m confusing with points, map units etc.

As a newbi QGIS user i would like to make and use QGIS to make several Swedish maps to represent my research (using probably SCB data). To get me started would you like (if possible) to share the files you used in this project?
@KlasKarlsson
@KlasKarlsson Жыл бұрын
The data I can share are already on the scb.se website. Geodata in "regions": www.scb.se/contentassets/e3b2f06da62046ba93ff58af1b845c7e/regso_2018_v2.zip And then statistics in the statistical database, that you will need to select, pivot, export and join to your geodata in QGIS. Here's a link to one example of pivoted table you can download and try to join in QGIS: www.statistikdatabasen.scb.se/pxweb/sv/ssd/START__HE__HE0110__HE0110G/TabVX4bDispInkN/table/tableViewLayout1/

Hello professor very nice layout. Is it possible to protect layout parameters with password. That say working with team without making any change with layout parameters. Thanks for sharing?
@KlasKarlsson
@KlasKarlsson Жыл бұрын
Not directly, no. There might be other possibilities, but by it self, QGIS have very little password protection. You could look into password protecting a layout file in the computer filesystem, giving QGIS only read rights to it.

Hi Klas and thanks for sharing the great video! I´m not not able to find the raw data for downloading at scb ( statistiska centralbyrån). Do they provide this as a geopackage file as shown (net_income)? It would be great if you like to share the link for downloading the raw data. Would like to have that tofollowing along with your video- Thanks in advance!

Hi. Unfortunately it isn't that simple. SCB has a data portal where you can specify the data you want, but the format is a bit complex. You will need to "pivot" the data tables and edit it some manually, and then you need to join it with suitable geospatial data, since the statistical data is not geospatial.
@KlasKarlsson

I downloaded the data from here: www.statistikdatabasen.scb.se/pxweb/sv/ssd/ This selection should give you data to work with www.statistikdatabasen.scb.se/sq/139132 SCB also have geodata to join with www.scb.se/contentassets/e3b2f06da62046ba93ff58af1b845c7e/regso_2018_v2.zip

Good day Klas. I am an ardent follower from Namibia, Southern Afrika. Could you kindly explain why you initially added map items such the title, neatline and legend next to the map layout page and not on it?
@KlasKarlsson
@KlasKarlsson Жыл бұрын
In many cases you have access to more information than you can use in the final map layout. By "collecting" everything off-map first you will get an idea of how much you have and what is important and what is not. Then you pick the parts you really need for the map, and ignore the things that does not fit...

Good day Sir! I am from PH, a GIS practitioner and your content or videos are highly recommended in fb pages. I am wondering if you have sorted compilation to where should I start in learning more about QGIS. Thank you so much!

I don't have an ordered list with videos. Some are "connected" but mostly I make videos on subjects that catch my interest at the moment, and not according to a larger plan or in a bigger context. There are other channels that do publish videos in a structured order to follow as a more comprehensive teaching resource.
