This hymn was the Communion hymn at Mass the weekend after I decided to convert in 2010. It was the Communion hymn at my Confirmation Mass in 2011. It was the Communion hymn at the funeral Mass of my girlfriend in 2017. And it remains my single favourite piece of sacred music.

What amazes me is that this iteration sounds exactly like that of the members of my Parish. And by that, I mean that we generally can't sing, but when we sing in mass, that all changes. And it sounds like THIS. Just so beautiful; it's as if I can hear the Cherubim and Seraphim singing his praise...

All should sing with the choir in your parish do not depend on the choresters in the choir

The melody is very easy to follow, is in a range that easily allows for men or women to sing in either chest voice or head voice, and the pacing and rhythm is also very easy. Also, it has a lot of open vowel. All of these things make it easy for anyone to sing along so long as there is at least someone leading.

“The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.” 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 The words of Saint Paul as he speaks about the mass at the dawn of the new covenant. He believes the cup of blessing to be transformed into the blood of Christ and the same of the bread into the body of Christ. Almost 2000 years ago these are his words. Know thy enemy, how has the devil transformed this understanding that Saint Paul clearly speaks. It did not have symbolic meaning to him. I watch a world fall victim to the schemes of the devil yet truth is still truth and always will be. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! Dear Lord God, You are the body of Christ, You are present in the breaking of the bread and the blessing of the wine. It is Your flesh and blood that feeds me for the spiritual battle that we are in the midst of. Open our eyes and minds to the spiritual warfare going on around us. Bless those in the fight and give hope to those who are truly shepherding Your flock. Victory is Yours God, this truth will never be removed for it is written in history. May more ardent disciples join the fight. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen. Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZTYdaJ6bKp_jJo www.dailythoughts.com Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b

Alan Massie This today’s thought, there is no such thing as coincidence in the eyes of God. God speaks to us each and everyday do we always listen. “For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me.” Matthew 8:9a Do we humble ourselves before the Lord? Do we only come to Him in our times of need or do we recognize Him in all that we do? I was a Eucharistic Minister yesterday and out of all those that received, there is one man that came forward and never looked up when he received Jesus. The word humility popped into my head as I handed him Jesus. Do we come to the Master with humility in our hearts and seek His divine intervention in our lives. Do we give Him total control of our lives or do we carry those things thinking we can handle it. Humble yourself before the Lord and give Him authority over you, let go of your pride and learn to walk in faith. It will stretch you but the feeling is exhilarating. Prepare for the coming of Christ this Advent season, invite Him in, in the mundane activities of everyday life. Dear Lord God, it is a journey through time that we each have, our time is finite. Draw us closer to You each day. Strengthen our resolve to serve You and You alone. Open us up to the newness of each day and allow us to see the Gospels in our own daily walk. You walked with the Apostles, You also walk with us if we would humble ourselves, we can see You teaching us all the time. Prayers for Sean Walker and his family, may He be reclining at the banquet of the Kingdom of Heaven and May he Rest In Peace. Amen. Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for us. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZmVo5iirtmSmpo www.dailythoughts.com Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b

It's only the choir that is wearing all black, and probably because that is just their choir outfits. I'd rather this than the altar server style robes I wore as a kid for choir. The regular Mass attendees are wearing regular Mass attire.
