Just as an update, Qidi has an entirely new chamber heater power supply board design which started shipping yesterday I believe. It uses many different components with a mostly changed layout. All of the people with electronics knowledge who have looked at it say it seems much more suitable. We will be testing it in the next few days to make sure it is a confirmed fix. Anyone who has the old board or buys a printer with it should request the updated part.

I'm able to produce print in place bearings with only 0.05mm clearance between components and pull them straight off the plate with zero fusion. My Qidi Studio found my printer over the network no issue. I was using the 1.4 firmware update. Have had no major snags so far. Very impressed by the overall quality and features. It's the perfect machine for making automotive parts from higher end filaments as I plan to do. Hard to beat for $799!

I've been really impressed with this machine, especially with ABS. They're flawless prints with barely any tinkering to settings. Huge step up from my bed slingers. I'm going to give it probably a few more days to contact them for the new SSR board to make sure it's the latest and greatest. I'm manually controlling the chamber for now. @4:19 IMO it's best to get the bed as level as possible, i.e. 'TRAM' so your parts don't skew. The real hum dinger is you don't necessarily want it to match the gantry's level of flat but the Z motion. As there is not guarantee the gantry itself is TRAM to the bed motion. That is so that it moves perfectly straight up while being perfectly horizontal. Think of the bed being perfectly 90 degrees flat of the motion rods both in the X and Y direction. With that said.. Don't think most anyone printing needs NASA level CNC precision on plastics that will shrink and warp anyway. It's fun tho! that's why most people 3D print lol Love the reviews! Amazing work guys 👍

This is really impressive. I value quality over speed, and this printer really seemed to deliver on the quality front. The benchies had some artifacts, but everything else was really very nice. I was surprised at how good the alpaca turned out. The lagging in the UI seems like maybe a physical memory thing? Needs more RAM? It looks like, with a few tweaks, it's close to being as good as the X1C, but with a bigger build volume, which I like. I've been wanting to get into 3D printing for a while now, but I don't want to have a room full of different printers. I just want one that'll do everything, reliably, with good quality, with no hassles, every single time. And I'd like it to have as big a build volume as possible, so I don't have to worry about limiting the size of my projects. The X1C has been at the top of my list for a while now, but I really wanted something in the 300-cubed range in build volume, which makes this Qidi very interesting. The detail you can get with SLA printing is astonishing, but I just don't have the capacity or will to deal with the mess, so FDM is the way forward for me. Thanks for doing these comprehensive reviews. It definitely makes choosing a printer easier.

Hey great review, I'm curious as to the scoring on your site for the QiDi Plus 4 vs the Bambu X1C. - X1C has an extra point on print quality. Is this due to the tolerance test? As you for the quality comparison you stated the QiDi was slightly better (than the P1, but I've heard the P1 and X1 is the same?) - X1C has an extra point on technology, but the QiDi seems to have more features/tech than the X1C, what was the reasoning? Or is it just that time is also a component of the scoring, and at the time the X1C came out it was significantly better on features/tech where the QiDi is just a small step up in a few areas?

I really wish the tolerance test was corrected for the warping. That had to have affected the tolerance level. If possible I’d like to see this have a successful print and see the actual tolerance from a properly tuned print for this machine. I’m on the fence from this and the Bambi lab P1S for this price range but that really put me off not knowing the full performance stack up to the P1S that passed tolerances from a clean non warped print
@cronusciller21243 ай бұрын
i think another important question is if you want to be able to print high temp engineering filaments. With this printer having a max nozzle temp of 370, and max chamber temp of 65c, you can print so many materials on here you can’t print, atleast well, on any of bambulab’s machines, even the x1e that isn’t even sold to consumers. I think that the tolerancing issue is totally solvable with a little bit of tinkering (running the linear advance test in orca slicer) and further firmware updates. TLDR: I don’t think one tolerance test should be the determining factor since that is likely easily improbable, you should look into what other needs are met by either printer that can’t be met by the other one.

Single spool above the printer seems to be inline with structural filaments such as PPS-CF. These filaments can be quite brittle off the spool, so having the fewest bends to the printhead, the better. As an example, Bambu Labs does not recommend using their AMS while printing PPS-CF. I should imagine the same will apply with Qidi's multiple filament system as well. Since nany of these structural filaments require very dry filament (blasted dryers recommended up to 12 hrs), some sort of enclosed spool would be more ideal. Seems the heat chamber design has this drying method in mind by stacking spools inside the machine and set temp/fans to recommendations. Of course, the downside of this method is no printing possible while drying. My solution is having at least 2 dryers: 1 feeding the printer and 1 drying the next projects filament.

looks to me like a very good printer, I have a Qidi X-Plus and have been more than happy with that. I retro fitted a cabinet heater to my Printer for ABS. I have bought many print heads for my printer preferring to change them with materials rather than changing nozzles. Speed has never been an issue for me preferring quality every time. I have also fabricated an enclosed from a cake tupperware box to prevent humidity upsetting my prints when there have been long print times. I presume this printer has LAN and Wifi Connectivity, and a USB port for a memory stick. The greater print area would be an improvement over my X-plus, but otherwise I stick with what I have. Great review as usual I appreciate the work you must put into these reviews.
@markm752 ай бұрын
Somewhat newb here, but what is meant by changing with materials vs changing the nozzles, what substitutes a 0.22= nozzle size for instance? for finer details
@Roskellan2 ай бұрын
@@markm75 Changing materials. PLA, ABS, Nylon, TPU etc. When you go from a high temp material to a low one it can cause problems for the nozzle. Further some material (Nylon CF) require a toughened nozzle since a brass one would wear out. Finally nozzles come in different sizes 0.4mm, 0.6mm for example. For me changing nozzles is a bit of an ordeal so I change the whole print head when I change materials or need different nozzle sizes, I have now several different complete print heads with various nozzles. I doubt many people do what I do but I'm changing materials/ nozzle sizes all the time.

I am trying to decide between a QiDi x-max 3, QiDi plus 4, and Bambu X1E. I have a lot of experience with a Stratasys FDM printer circa 2009-2011 but have been out of the scene for a while. I am looking to make strictly ABS functional parts for work so the heated chamber of the QiDi models is what drew me to them after being used to it on the Stratasys machine. I don't think I would want one without it. I am open to other suggestions. I am looking basically in the sub $2000 range for something with roughly this print volume that can make strong parts with good surface finish.
@phiod1030Ай бұрын
I purchased this printer and have been experiencing some strange issues. The Z bed is moving quite roughly and vibrating, both up and down. The after-sales service told me that this is due to thermal drift. I'm confused as to why, for a machine that requires a constant chamber temperature, I would still experience dimensional deviations caused by thermal drift. Shouldn't these issues be addressed through necessary testing before leaving the factory?

Hey Aurora Tech, How's the workflow of the QiDi compare with that of Bambu Lab. Your reviews show the QiDi's very favorably and as I'm starting to use more PC in my projects, this printer and the X-Max3 look like good bangs for the buck for a heated chamber printer compared to spending $2500 for the BL X1-E. but my concern is how they would integrate into the workflow I've established with Bambu Studio and the 3 BL printers I already use. The X1-C works pretty well with their BL's PC and Polymaker's PC, so I was thinking maybe getting a P1-S as an added PC printer while waiting for Bambu Lab's next big thing.
@AuroraTech2 ай бұрын
The X1-E seems a bit overpriced. Qidi printers with a heated chamber are better for ABS/ASA printing. However, if you primarily print PC, the heated chamber won’t make a significant difference, and the fine details on Bambulab machines are better.

I was comparing this new Qidi Plus 4 to the upcoming New Elegoo Centauri Carbon, the Elegoo printer has not been priced yet? Also not sure of the specs either? But if it is what I think it maybe like, the bed size I do know so the Qidi Plus 4 has a bigger bed and if the Centauri Carbon has about the same price but smaller bed then if I can save the money up and can find the free space in the room set up I got of the other 3D printers. I be getting the Qidi Plus 4. If the multi-printing add on is good then if I can I will buy it too! I still need to see what the full specs and price for the Elegoo Centauri Carbon is? But again if I can save up the money and find the space to set it up.I already got 5 3D Printers ( one is the Qidi X-Plus-3 & one is the New Elegoo 4 Plus & the other is the Elegoo 3 Max & the Elegoo Neptune 3 & the FLSUN QQ-S Pro Delta ) Hoping to klipper the non klipper printers soon? We see if the Centauri Carbon can out do the Qidi Plus 4 on some of the specs if not the bed size?

You say the files are random, however they appear to be alphabetical. The refresh does seem slow though.

Is the nozzle of the machine used for the review a Tungsten Carbide Bimetal Nozzle?

Always a great review, I was anticipating yours, especially because I am considering buying this QIDI Plus 4. Thank you 👍 Just had a quick question, did the enclosure improve the ABS vapours smell? Compared to others I mean.

It has a pack of carbon inside filter box of the exhaust fan, I didn't smell anything at all when printing Eryone ABS.

Is 305 x 305mm (XY) a real printable size, or is there clipping?
