Great informational video! Instead of using the profiles for a specific person, you can set it for a particular quilt. This way, you don't have to remember or write down what you are using on a specific quilt when you come back to stitch another day.

A big thank you for your sit-down mastery, 1 and 2. I found it easy to follow and most importantly, I could actually see what you were doing with your hands. It's been the best demonstrations I've ever come across and it's helped me as a beginner on the Q . I could finally work out how to thread the machine and also where to oil it. I'm no longer 'scared" to use my machine. Thank you!

My husband bought a Q20 for me four years ago. I haven't ever even turned it on! I'm a hand quilter...but he wanted a convertible, and thought he had to get me something too! I've mentioned selling it several times...he freaks and just doesn't understand it's not something I will ever use. It sits in the corner of my library, I dust it regularly, not even plugged in. Looks neat for machine sewers!
@QuiltingInTheValley3 ай бұрын
So.....I would encourage you to turn it on, follow the steps we've outlined to get it threaded and running, and just do a couple table runners or baby quilts! It's not like you know for absolutely sure that you won't like it.....you've never tried it! You may be surprised and you may add this into your repertoire as a quilter! It's easy to get boxed in by only doing things in one manner.....but you'd be surprised how much fun it can be to play around, practice new skills, and have some variety in life!

@@QuiltingInTheValley I appreciate your response. I have hand sewn for over 60 years, and the only thing I think when I see the machine is 'Man I could really use that space, or the money." I think it's time to ignore my husband, find a new home for it, and get my library back! Time's a wastin'! Thank you! Time to call my dealer and move forward.

Your timing of their. Idea was just perfect for me! My Q20 arrive this afternoon and it’s so much easier to see someone explain how to thread this machine then read it in the Manuel.

LOVE this!! VERY helpful and feeling very confident on my Q20! Is there a resource on if I get an error message on the LIFT TABLE? E06? Thank you.
@QuiltingInTheValley Жыл бұрын
The table, itself, is showing an error message?? Have you checked the manual for the table? My guess would be that it is experiencing a barrier to either lifting or lowering. Like it may be hitting something, or something is putting pressure on it somewhere?
@deborahfaneros4733 Жыл бұрын
@@QuiltingInTheValley Is there a MANUAL for the TABLE?! Can you link to it? Yes, the table was showing the error E06 and not moving. I also commented on a HORN video, they responded that I need to hold the DOWN button for a minute then it will lower and reset itself. That ended up doing the trick. And yes, while changing height, it hit something so that is what caused the error. Thank you!

I just ordered Q16 and this is very helpful. What oil do you recommend? It is not included with the machine?
@QuiltingInTheValleyАй бұрын
Yes, it will be included with the machine. It will be in the tin box with the other items included. It is the finer weight BERNINA oil. They have two kinds of oil: one heavier weight for CB hook/older machines, and the finer weight for Jumbo Bobbin and M class bobbin machines. It is in a squeeze bottle with a white lid.

@ thank you for a prompt reply. Can’t wait to start playing with the machine.

Nice video, thank you. Anyone know where I can find similar videos that relate to a Bernina Studio Frame Q-Series machine? All I find are sit down videos...and some things are definitely different. Thanks!
@QuiltingInTheValley9 ай бұрын
Hi….we did a series of Q24 videos….including a wholecloth quilt exercise using QMatic. We focus on the QMatic, not the frame. QMatic works the on bother frames. I’m not familiar with anyone doing videos specific to the Studio Frame other than construction, but there may be?
@paulmckenna52249 ай бұрын
@@QuiltingInTheValley Thanks. Even Bernina has almost zero instructions on how to actually use the Studio Frame and Q machines, other than what the menu screen does and construction of the frame. We're down to trial and error! (Lots of error!)

You mention the tables, but what do they look like and how do they differ? Thank you so much for this tutorial! So informative.
@QuiltingInTheValley3 жыл бұрын
There are several options today: foldable, adjustable foldable, Horn Lift Table, and the Koala elevated cabinet. The foldable tables are the smallest and take up the least space. The Koala elevated cabinet is a sit down furniture like cabinet the adjusts up and down and takes up the most space. Our favorite is the Horn Lift!

every time I turn on the machine, I get a message: “#2010 Maindrive sync Failed! Restart Machine”. I restart the machine but get the same message. What needs to be done?
@QuiltingInTheValleyАй бұрын
Sounds like you may have a thread jam somewhere. Turn it off. Take out the bobbin, unthread the machine. Clean out the bobbin area really well. Look for loose thread, thread wrapped around anything, etc in the hook race area. Rotate the fly wheel several times. Then turn the machine on before threading again and see if it still says that. If it does, you may have a bigger issue.
@paulmckenna52246 ай бұрын
Very good video. Unfortunately, we've followed your every step to the letter (as well as any Q series videos, pages, books) we could find, but we can't stitch more than a few inches before the machine quits (with an 'out of thread' error on the screen, although there's plenty). It leaves a mangled mess where the stitching should be, especially on the underneath. We've checked all the tension, oiled the machine properly, changed needles, used numerous brands of thread including Gutterman and Aurifil. Our experience with this Bernina Q16+ has been a disaster. My wife can sew all day long on her Jazz II, but neither she nor I can make a single stitch on this Bernina! Along with the Studio 10 frame, we've spend a big part of our savings on her long-time dream only to have it be a nightmare. Any guidance from anybody would be welcome!

In the manual it says that after you put the bobbin in with the logo facing out you should test it and the bobbin should wind clockwise there is no way it can wind clockwise you didn't refer to that in your video so I'm wondering if that's a mistake in the manual
@QuiltingInTheValley4 ай бұрын
No mistake! If you put the bobbin in the bobbin case logo out, then insert the case, then pull the thread you will see the bobbin rotating clockwise.
