Thank you for this! I was torn between Pom and FR4, and I think based on this I’ll be happy with either because I love having all the foam in for that muted, marble type sound.

@@user-un1lr3wr7c yes, it comes with the qk75. for other boards, durock and others also sell pe foam switch pads which are for a single switch. you can also get white pe foam sheets (like the baggie that a glass screen protector comes in) that you cut to size and just jam the switches through.

Surprsingly the alu with all but PE foam (PE foam makes all boards sound the same) sounds better then the other ones in my eyes in that specific confiq.

In terms of feel, what did you prefer? I picked up a QK75 w/ Alu plate mostly by default and because I have more experience with stiffer typing and limited experience with the other plate materials.

Alu and fr4. I’m a stiffer typing experience dude. The mounting system really does a lot of the heavy lifting tho. So not much difference between the two. Still pretty soft which is nuts

I think @user-gs8os8cs4r means we’re lucky and CONUS customers are lucky because we are in spoiled brat territory. To reply to your comment though, that really sucks! I think someone else from India commented and said the shipping was like $70 bucks. If it makes you feel better this thing punches way above $300 in terms of features IMO.

@@Akeynote Hey thanks so much for clarifying the comment. And yes, I will have to pay around 70 bucks in shipping, which takes the cost to 230 bucks. On top of that, when it arrives in India, I might have to pay 50% of the total amount in customs. So that takes the total amount to, I am guessing, $335!!! A QK rep told me that it could go even higher. 😢

@@Akeynote Wow, yeah, I can imagine. Mine take around 12-15 hours to produce, and that’s with just one build. Lots of narrative, though. Bet if I cut that out and focused just on the build types, it would create more value in terms of sound tests. May do that with my Q1 as I have a few more plate types for that now.

QK 75 feels more stiff and bouncy while the zoom feels squishy. I think that’s the most important thing. I like the sound of the QK more but if your using foams the the zoom seems better

No but I may not be the best to answer. I regularly use different angle and stuff all the time I rarely get typing fatigue. Only in my left forearm when I’m trying to PR monkey type for a straight hour lol

@@vincentbui3323 ohhh first build?! My first build was with gateron black ink v1 lol. So much has changed but I think I still base most of my opinions on that switch. You never forget your first. I would just go with something that’s good out of the box with no lubing or filming. if you want something deep try green jackets. There are a lot other ones but those are the most recent in my memory. Just note the GJ are kinda heavy compared to your normal switch.

Naaaah lol. I did that in the other video. Adding 2 layers of foam will pretty much make them all feel similar with PC being the exception. Even then you won’t be able to tell during normal typing.

plate foam and pe really make a huge different. But nowadays almost every single China custom keeb GB offer PE foam, PE foam make board sounds better but also very boring. PE foam make every keyboard almost sounds the same. Since I already had my Ikki68 Aurora with PE foam, my incoming Qk75 may just with plate foam only.

Hi is it true that the PE foam does make the typing sound louder IRL? Because everytime you put PE foam, the sound volume got louder as well. Damn I like the alu sound, but had already ordered using POM plate 😅 well i guess i need to change the switch to match the plate sound

Yeah it gets “louder”. When foam is added faster frequencies (higher pitched) become slower (lower pitched). So the lower frequencies become more apparent. Everything is recorded at the same distance and volume. All raw audio, that’s why the room noise is still present during the typing tests and not the talking head lol.

@@Akeynote what foam reduce the thin-ness of the board(because of the flex cut)? I assume it was the platefoam, but does using case foam & both plate and case foam make a difference?

@@haihao2942 yes it does make a difference. I think the case foam reduces it the most, but you may think otherwise. You can always use painters tape to seal the flex cuts also

Pretty similar actually. The mounting system does a lot heavy lifting making most plates feel very similar. PC is the only thing that is really different, being softer. No wrong choice here just depends on the sound your going for.

PC for sure. Fr4 and pom slightly. You won’t notice to be honest. The mounting system really does all the heavy lifting.

Will it sleep when you change devices? Or do You mean if you don’t use it anymore? Either way I don’t think so but it has two lipo batteries that work in series I believe, so the lifetime between charges is fairly long. Haven’t tested it officially, But I’ve been using it in dongle mode for about a week still hasn’t died. I’ve only tested range in Bluetooth mode. Which was great compared to other BT keebs I’ve had.

@@Akeynote When I use a KVM to switch which device my keyboard types to (Mac laptop vs desktop), it sleeps my Everglide SK87. So I was wondering if you had to double tap the spacebar (Or whichever key is used to wake the kb) whenever you change devices.

Used to make them longer, but there’s too much drop off in the analytics. You can see this in most keeb content creators stuff nowadays. Typing tests are getting shorter and shorter.

@@Augustus28 Alu has a metallic resonance while fr4 has a pcb resonance. Alu has a ting to it while fr4 doesn’t. They feel pretty comparable because of the mounting system. Alu is heavier, maybe that can help decide lol.
