We have such a bridge calendar in our projects as well for easier reporting of time periods like YTD, YTM, Rolling 12 month and so on. That is quite handy and easy to use!

We use this design in pretty much all of our apps because we have so many date types. But insight advisor struggles mightily with this construct. I would love to see a video or webinar explaining how insight advisor can suggest workable charts with this model design.

Thank you for sharing. That’s great to hear. In regards to Insight advisor I’m still working on part 2 of this video and I think that’s a great topic to also cover I will mention that in the video. In short modifying business logic calendar periods and setting up behaviors Should help with the natural language questions but yes depending on the time. Being asked for you might need to have more specifics in the question for example saying something like “this year” when you have multiple calendar types needs to be more specific unless a behavior is set up and calendar. Is defined I will cover this in the video thank you for your Comment.

what if we have dates in two different tables? Like order date in order table and gl_date in invoice table and want to link them based on year

Hi Sameer - that should not be a problem - you would just source your data from the other data connection. How familiar are you with Qlik data connections? We take the data from the source and load it into the app. Then you can link like fields on the same fieldname. I am making video 2 on this soon and I will mention that in the video. Regards, Mike T
