Yes, this vid looks nice but is useless without the option for a DLNA server.. it appears no longer available in QTS 5.2x?

Hi, Thanks for sharing, I have a question regarding setting up QuMagie for multiple users, only seeing their content. By default all the user's photos are uploaded in camera upload, this results in everybody seeing each other's photos. How can I separate them?

I miss any information related to the security of the NAS, port forwarding, upnp, firewall setup...It would be more than welcome after latest warnings from QNAP, Thanks!

Unfortunately, Photo Station / DLNA linkage had reach EOL in 2023 and looks like I am not that only one that is finding discrepancies in the details for x63a (QuTS) users. like no more Photostation and no DLNA menu link in applications by default. I would love a revised version of this video for QuTS.. It really did have some great points on DLNA service.

Great job. I'm following this series closely as I'm setting up a new qnap. I'm not seeing Photo Station in the App Center though! I wonder if this is because I'm using QuTS hero 5? Looking forward to #4!

I enjoyed watching this series of videos. They explained a number of things for me. I am currently running a QNAP TR-002 for my PC backup. I now know I need to my laptop connected via my internal network setup. I have no way to access my photography and my photographic collection of camera equipment. The TR-002 does not ethernet connection on the rear. This device is connected to my PC via a USB cable. I am trying to decide if I will stay with QNAP or go with another brand that will provide the items I need or should have.

Some routers have the ability to connect a USB device to them, and share it. That would be your best option.

Huh. I have all the apps installed mentioned up to 02:28. No DLNA listed. Running Beta 5.1.0 2348 Solution: wipe/reset the nas. downgrade the OS to the stable non beta.

I faced the same issue. Seems like DLNA is not listed anymore but you have to use Media Streaming Add-on and add new folder in edit Multimedia Console -> Content Management -> Media Streaming add-on -> Edit Afterward, you can go check on System Status -> DLNA Media Server is now enable

How do I expose those apps externally considering that I'm not port forwarding the same port (8080) of the admin console?

Hey, new sub here as I'm in the market for my first NAS and pretty much decided on the Qnap 453 (thanks to your videos) but when I put it into my cart Amazon "suggested" I look at the 473. This product is about $300 more but with that money you get the Ryzen and the max memory is substantially more, so I'm wondering why in all of your comparison videos you don't compare these two? You typically only compare models that are the same price. But you're missing out on a key part of your audience who (like me) don't mind spending a little more as long as you explain the benefit of it; so many people choose a budget that tops out at $1k so maybe you could explain the advantages of spending just a little more money to step up to the much more expandable 473?

Hi there. I'm searching for information about if QuMagie Facial and Object Recognition upload any pictures externally for the recognition processes or is it all performed locally on the NAS itself? There should be a legal statement for that, because I don't want my photos to be uploaded anywhere else and be leaked eventually
@markwalker652

All performed on the NAS 👍🏻

@ I don’t I’m afraid, I’m only going on my own usage as when I upload photos to my NAS the AI software kicks in along with the CPU, so with my limited knowledge I’d say it was the NAS doing all the work. Hope this helps a little

Hello, I would like to achieve very simple photo sharing for external users, and I don't know how to do it. Local network is not of interest to me. Google Drive functionality can be a reference. My intention is to share one folder per customer. Customers should obtain unique URL password protected. Sounds easy. Now let's add some impediment, customer wants to see photos grouped by subfolders. For example, Session10/ProductA, Session10/ProductB, Private/Wedding etc. It is required to see photos from single subfolder with file names, view photos as thumbnails and single large photo with sliding functionality left/right to go to previous/next picture, downloading single or all placed in specific catalogue. Customer can have thousands of photos so viewing them as single, infinite long page is not acceptable. The FileStation 5 can group pictures in folders but has no functionality of viewing enlarged version which allows sliding to next / previous picture. Moreover, when enlarged version is viewed on smartphone, clicking "back" exits from application (in quick browsing / Android). PhotoStation and QuMagie are doing the mess. All photos grouped in subfolders are presented as long, infinite list of hundreds/thousands of photos placed in each of the subfolders. There is no way to see e.g. pictures of ProductA only - especially when pictures were taken at different dates. In this case - 2 products with pictures taken in overlapping dates will be mixed together. I conclude from the lack of such functionality that my expectations are unique. Don't you have such expectations? Or maybe there is a way for intuitive sharing photos?

Having a local NAS is normally for privacy and/or backup reasons. While it would likely be possible to do what you want, it would place a huge burden on you to create user accounts, etc. and also place a huge burden on your network connection. You would also be getting into an area where you would have to control privacy of clients' pictures/videos, which could create legal issues for you. Also - you would essentially be running a server at that point. Your ISP may not be too happy about that. I would advise keeping your work private and at home, backed up, and well protected. Farm the server work out to someone who is an expert in that area.

@@old-patriot4509 Eventually I could create user accounts but they don't work via WWW interface of QNAP NAS. I bought NAS for sharing photos - advertisement says that I can do this. Unfortunately this advertisement didn't say that quality of sharing service is extremely poor - even for home users. Regarding to legal issues - main part of the photographers job is selling photographs for their customers. Today nobody expects to receive old-fashioned DVDs via post office to be able to choose pictures to be printed eg. Sharing them via Cloud seems to be proper approach - but it is not. I don't know why. I have to share my work results somehow. Of course I'm able to create my own server (I'm website developer as well), but I would avoid duplicating what should be already done by others. I wrongly assumed that NAS is just such a solution.
