Even if the E1.S goes up to 16TB, the compatibility qnap list for that device only have up to 8TB. That was up to last week when I checked

I got these "MTFDKBZ3T8TFR-1BC1ZABYY Data Center 7450 PRO" from compatibility list but can't seems to fit in the casing. I tried both ways with adapter and removing but the Micron 7450 SSD doesn't align.

Is the issue the 110's are too long?
@alevilikvealeviler8 ай бұрын
I need one of these! But I could not find any company selling E1.S - flash drives.
@StorageReview8 ай бұрын
They're not real common but any distributor should be able to find them pretty easily.

they have excellent 100GbE network cards that would have been better for this but the 2.5 nic is a slap in NAS architecture face.

do you have any sort of noise test?

Can I hook it up with a relatively old TerraMaster NAS?

They can both serve storage but you can't really combine two NAS brands into one.

Do Qnap Os ask customer use their nvme brand ssd?
@StorageReview8 ай бұрын
no
@Kattakam6 ай бұрын
nope, they have amazing proprietary OS w/apps that constantly gets integrated with new features from the community. However, for my 12 bay it was pricey at the time, $3k USD which didn't include drives. This was close to ten years ago and it's still works very very hard. Just love the ROI.

Nice video. Have you tested the performances on Linux?
@StorageReview8 ай бұрын
Typically we do - but in this case we really just focused on the primary use case.

So... You used a subpar disk benchmark which made you feel windows was thus not applicable? That doesn't make a lot of sense. Just use a different tool; heck, Atto is available for windows.
@StorageReview8 ай бұрын
We go into more detail in the full review, but it wasn't the poor performance alone, rather the inconsistent performance among several different Windows machines that led us to that view, including using Atto.

@@StorageReview appreciate the follow up, that's somewhat critical information given this video's approach

It's more that Thunderbolt on PC is not in a good spot right now, so manufacturers engineered it likely for mac and then did not worry about PC compatibility past that. Seriously the inconsistency between thunderbolt interface makers on PC is underreported. The spec needs to tighten up and force giving more detailed chip specs for it to do well on windows. Wendel over at Level1Techs has had serious issues with both 3 and 4.

Kind of the wrong time to go crazy for SSDs...

If you need something like this, you're not going to wait 2 years for prices to maybe come down.
@Nkvik7 ай бұрын
Instead of repeating "like I said" x100 times you could have mentioned the fking price.
@Kattakam6 ай бұрын
yea, you did mention it as one of your video's supporting conversations. Thank goodness for smart phones though. Even if price was mentioned, might be a budgeting no no as a company to talk contract details, it would fluctuate with market value.
