QNBC - NBC O&O Stations Music Video

My old dept at NBC, called NBC New Media, made this music video for Scott Sassa in 1997 when he first joined NBC. It was only shown once internally to an audience of station General Managers in Studio 8H (the Saturday Night Live studio). The "Q" in QNBC stands for "quality." Quality control based on GE's SixSigma program, was part of what GE was rolling out to NBC. We edited the video using Adobe Premiere and Media 100 and created all the graphics using Adobe After Effects. Music is by a 1990's band called Jesus Jones.

Only one problem--they left out one NBC O&O---my hometown station, KXAS-TV Dallas/Fort Worth.

LIN Broadcasting was KXAS’ majority owner while holding a minority stake in KNSD (both stations were 55/45 joint ventures between LIN and NBC). Of note: NBC also still held a minority stake in onetime O&O WKYC Cleveland up until 1999 (they sold off 51% to Multimedia in 1990; successor owner Gannett later bought NBC out).

NBCO&O in Dallas,San Fransisco hadn't been brought yet. My station WNCN is now apart of Nexstar an is now a CBS Affiliate.

God I hate Nexstar. I really wished WNCN remained as an NBC O&O instead, but then again, you can't change the past.

@@blatheringblathers347 me too out of the four stations sold along with WNCN, WJAR Providence, WCMH Columbus, WVTM Birmingham. WNCN should have been kept and instead switched it for either WVIT Hartford. To media General these four had no pro hockey teams Raleigh did an actually won the Stanley cup that year. Now my only hope is that WNCN becomes a CBS O&O.
