Minor firmware update and some interface convenience changes but nothing substantial in terms of the radio portion itself. That digitally-tuned radio is pretty impressive to be able to keep up with the Panasonic, very impressive. Gotta love a radio review/preview + desert DXing + Mine Explorers crossover. Great vid!

Panasonic portables have been a favorite collectible of mine, not even sure how many i have now. All work well too. And that Qodosen radio, i picked up the DX-286 which is more or less identical and that radio's gain on AM via that telescoping antenna shocked me. Wasn't expecting that at all. Even out guns my Tecsun PL-330 which in itself is a decent receiver. Great video!
@FatosAdami18 күн бұрын
I am a big fan of your videos. I have a large collection of of all kind of radios at home. I recently acquired the new version of Qodosen, the DX-286 from Amazon. I haven't tested it thoroughly yet, but it is one of the best radios I ever had, sensitivity, selectivity and sound quality for its size is really impressive. Nothing comes close to it in its class/size. They say that you can switch between the internal/ferrite and external whip/wire antenna in the AM (MW, LW) bands, it's in the manual, (I haven't tried it myself). If you are at home, use the internal ferrite antenna (default) to avoid electrical noises etc, but if you go to the desert for DX-ing, switch to the whip antenna, or even better if you have a 20 foot wire antenna. In this case, they say, it outperforms the best AM-DX radios like the Superadio II etc.

Hello sir. That was a great video, I really enjoyed the additional drone footage, too. I don't believe anyone has mentioned this, but pressing and holding both the "PAGE" and "AM" buttons on the Qodosen will allow you to toggle between the internal bar antenna or the telescopic antenna. Then, you can use the external antenna jack. It makes a noticeable difference in sensitivity, but it will also pick up more RFI too. Away from the power lines, etc, I can DX in my backyard with the telescopic antenna alone during the day! I would like to see a rematch with the TO and Qodosen using its telescopic antenna this time. Thank you for all you do! 📻

8:25 There are two kinds of Nu-trol contact cleaner: yellow strip with regular oil, orange strip with silicone oil. Yellow cleans better, orange evaporates more slowly. I used it on hearing testing booth jacks that were calibrated annually. Those where I used the orange Nu-trol lasted the whole year without crackling; those with yellow, did not. I guess it would be optimal to clean with yellow, and then give it one last spray of orange.

The DSP can be a real advantage especially in casual listening. I was on a trip with a friend in a mid teens Jeep and the radio clearly had DSP. It was really very good. We were stuck in traffic during a lightning storm and I did a band scan. It did turn the sensitivity and audio down to prevent the loud cracking, but the recovery was quite slow. I wish I had some control over that. And I have a cheap Chinese radio with DSP and it's pretty clear for talk shows with the background noise almost completely removed.

You could make an RF sniffer out of hard copper coax and an SMA connector and connect it to a spec an and zero right into the noisy component/circuit trace. Make a 3/8" loop at the end of the coax, solder the ground back onto itself and use an exacto knife to cut a small 1/16" section of the copper outer shell away leaving the teflon insulator and center conductor untouched. It's usually easier to cut it by rolling it on the bench with the blade before forming it into the loop. I've used this method to find resonant/noisy PCB traces. Since this one is spraying so much, should be easy to localize. 26:40, come for the RF noise, stay for the political conspiracy noise! Guarantee invalid, Cucamonga winery is open and thriving. Tokay is a naturally sweet dessert wine originally from Hungary. Strikers on matchbooks were moved to the back between 1973 to 1978 so not earlier than 1973. Barcodes became widely used in the 80s, not the 50s. The very first one was in 1974, so not after then. From Google, KNX's transmitter is more efficient than most. So no lowered power conspiracies needed... The 494-foot main antenna is 0.53λ, or 193.5 electrical degrees. It has an efficiency of 400.73 mV/m/kW at 1 km.[51] This is much better than average for a Class A station's main antenna. The FCC's minimum efficiency requirement is 362.10 mV/m/kW at 1 km.[52]

The lower cost Tecsun PL-330 isn't to bad but it's DSP & it will mute on tune which can be annoying. All of these radios tune to 30 MHz & have SSB on them.
