I never saw a follow up video on the counterpoise or on the air test. Cool looking antenna and good video. MikeinMinnesota N0WDM

Great design! Quick hint, for you or others: fix the unun to the frame with nylon nuts and bolts. More reliable than epoxy and you can take it off again if you want.

Thanks! That is an awesome idea! I'll definitely revisit that tip this year....come on warmer weather!....lol.

Thanks! I really appreciate it! Incidentally, I recently created a new channel specifically for ham radio. I'm leaving these videos here, but the next amateur radio related videos I make will be uploaded to the new channel. I felt that most of the radio folks didn't want to be bothered with my other activities! Thanks again! Here is the link to the new channel. 73 de K4SFC kzbin.info/door/-OJ2aGp03pPkKDVcY7LVhA

Giving me some ideas ! Just finished the Inverted V for home use . Oh one last thing . I will not be using my wife's saw . I own the saw in my house ! 😉
@Ron_C5 жыл бұрын
haha...She bought it, it's a silly scroll saw, the other saws are mine! lol. I made a linked dipole last year. I should make a video on that too....so many radio vids I should've made and didn't. But.....I still can!

I'm about 99% sure that I got it from this ebay seller, but it he doesn't have any. Might be able to send him a message and inquire. www.ebay.com/usr/revgotchrist (At 1:45 in this video I show his call sign inside the box)

I didn't coin that phrase, all the credit for that name goes to N9YO. I've already started anther one with a 9:1 unun rated to 100w. Just need to keep them labeled!

Ron C right, don’t hook that 20w to the 857

No doubt! I'm confident it's set to 100w right now..haha. That little toroid might get a little warm.

Ron I really like that antenna system you built!! I need that to use with the QCX that I built!! Looking forward to see a video of you setting that antenna up and making some contacts. I have the QRPguys.com end fed 1/2 wave antenna kit that I built, but of course for an end fed and being that it is for 40 Meters it is roughly 66 feet long. It does wind up on the PCB that the connector is on along with an inductor and capacitor. Really like to see how that is going to work. Juddie WD8WV

I have a 100w version of that unun on the way and on the next one, I'm adding more wire, probably 58'. I have a list of "good" lengths of long wire antennas from some testing done..somewhere: in feet-29, 35.5, 41, 58, 71, 84, 107, 119, 148, 203, 347, 407, 423. www.hamuniverse.com/randomwireantennalengths.html

I got into these simple antennas after watching guys on KZbin doing SOTA activations. That's actually what got me interested in Ham Radio. Being able to stop the car, motorcycle, bicycle, etc and quickly setup a quick and simple station is appealing to me.
