QSC is the stuff right now hands down. Been playing live music nearly 25 years and nothing has ever come close to the clarity and musical reproduction ever in a club situation. Small powerful speakers is the right move for anyone that's tired of missing frequencies in the oversized speakers. Have had so many compliments on the sound. Unbelieveably beautiful engineering. Finally... AND IT'S LIGHT AS A FEATHER!!!

Hello Paul, apologies for responding to a 9 months post. I just wanted to ask you two things: 1 - if you still would recommend QSC over something else. What do you think now 9 months later? I'm hesitating between between QSC K12.2 or KW122. Wat do you think bewtween those 2? (Application: DJ, electronic bass heavy music) And 2 - I'm intrigued about your comment saying "tired of missing frequencies in the oversized speakers". By "oversized" you mean like 15" heads? I'm looking for a small system with heads and subs capable of delivering good sound reproduction with a lot of bass. I need 18" subs. And I heard that coupling 15" heads with 18" or 21" subs will deliver poor mids. Would you recommend a pair of QSC 12" coupled with 18'" subs? Thanks a lot!

Kei Naarr ...Get two QSC K12's or the new version K12.2's then get a pair of KW181's, you won't regret it . They are great sounding speakers and most importantly are super reliable. They hardly ever crap out like EV, JBL,or YAMAHA usually do. Just ask Guitar Center how many QSC go back for repairs... hardly any compared to other brands. Do yourself a favor and look no further than QSC.

Yo no escuche en directo las qsc, pero se habla bien de ellas, si que hice varios eventos en abierto no muy grandes con las yamaha dxr 15 y suenan muy bien, la gente quedo encantada con el sonido.

ETX EV was clearer sound then the Yamaha but the Yamaha sub gave more punch I think I am still researching what I am going to buy not sure yet jbl or ev or rcf or Yamaha or qsc if you can help me that would amazing 😃👍

Yamaha tops and Subs definitely over QSC & EV Had the Kw118 which is a great speaker but the DXS18 by Yamaha will perform lower and will go louder than the Kw118. Qsc tops just sound harsh when they are loud....had kws and k12s and they both sounded harsh. Had the Etx15 and they bump but simply fall off on the long run and will not perform according to their specs so thumbs down to Etx. Now for the Yamaha Dsr brands they just take off.....extremely loud and will beat qsc and Ev etx and sound much better. also Kw118 is not a cardiod sub.

For a 1 man DJ. Transport space and most of all Lifting weight is one of my checklist. So QSC KW181 saves my back from slip disc.

If you are a private event DJ (weddings/corp events), you will never need more than 2 KW181. Sure the occasional 600+ corporate bash may come along - Bu I get told to turn the bass down so many times with just 1 KW181 in hotel ballrooms. Even at Country clubs and upscale halls - there is only so much bass you'll need. So go with the pound-for-pound pick...KW181. Now - if you're doing clubs and festivals and have a team of roadies - go all out. I Think Yamaha is the best return on investment gear in the world--right behind QSC. Need more bass - go Yam DXS18. Need all the bass you can use - go QSC (or yamaha 15). I use KW181 with Yamaha DXR12s and I used to have k12s - DXR are noticeably better in every way. Sold my DSR115s (very regrettably) but plan to buy DSR112s, DXR10s and 2 DXS12s to round out my rig. So my KW181s are the only non-yamaha piece and chosen over dxs18 bc of their size and more-than-enough performance.

yamaha should have been on boost because qsc is always playing on its greatest processors.

The qsc seems to suffocate not throw out the bass as if it jmhas limiters; most likely the dimensions of the box limit the qsc and therefore is able to perform undistorted as most mention. Yahama while they may not be experts in amification they know sound. The Yamaha ive been told by band members has better sound for live gigs. On the tops again Yamaha is more antrue sound and ev while sounds clean its a more synthetic sound processed.

QSC is an excellent specialist of power amplifiers, world N°2 after CROWN. Amplifier QSC is reliable, musical, dynamic and grow old relatively well. Never QSC has been a manufacturer of loudspeakers as JBL for example. It is not their speciality. Their loudspeakers are not made in their factory. The problem today it is because everybody wants to make everything.THE PROFESSIONALS wait for QSC for their amplifiers, their speciality. Yamaha the same as QSC, but their power amps are not so good.

ETX should have been a Qsc 12 with that Qsc181 and that Yamaha bottom should have been a Dxs 18 to compare to the Qsc181. Then you have your comparison. ETC have way more headroom than the Yamaha. Not in the same category.

Look into Danley sound labs SM80 tops if you want a serious leg up on your system.

Thats more of a live sound type of of speaker, 4 elx 115ps will be good for large gigs

Nothing compared to the SM80. From what i know and from specs i can tell you that the SM80 can do the same volume at 50ft back that the EV ELX115p can do at 3m. And that is simply because of the quality of both speakers and the transducer that is used in the SM80, which has an almost completely flat response. Making it perfect for all types of music whereas the ELX has quite a harsh boost around 3KHZ and 7KHZ. And if you do not think that the SM80 can be used for anything other than live sound (which it most definitely can) then go on to SLM Entertainments channel and see the number of videos that they have done using the SM80's as mains. Even in a highschool gym they sound incredible. To state that the ELX115p (4 of them) is a better option than 2 SM80's is flat out wrong i'm sorry. Not even taking into account the comb filtering and interference that you would get from splaying 4 tops. s

Oohh my bad, I thought 4 would be a good option because I've seen the same setup at a wedding and thought it sounded pretty good, i've heard that the sm80s are mainly used for live sound setups, I really haven't seen any djs use those sm80 boxes, But both boxes are rated at 135 db, do u know any actual difference between those two?? I hear the sm80 can throw sound further distances.
