If you are using Qt Creator all you have to do is press "Ctrl r". It build and runs the application in a preview.

What is that QML Simple Preview window that you have? In my Qt Creator 10.0.0 I can go to _Tools_ → _External_ → _Qt Quick_, there are two similar tools _Qt Quick 2 Preview (qmlscene)_ and _QML utility_. They do the same thing, but neither automatically reloads after saving the QML file, and needing to navigate that long menu after each change is quite cumbersome.

Nice one mate :) Just a question I have. When you created a new Item (like a new Rectangle), the code for the previous Rectangle (button1) had collapsed into (....). Do you have some sort of preference / setting on Qt Creator that makes it do this? It would be really useful for me when I have a lot of code :D Doesn't seem to happen for me automatically. (I'm on latest Qt Creator 12.0.1)

Just press the little triangle/arrow left of the "Rectangle {" You can basically do this in any IDE and also for C++ code etc
